New rules for entering Portugal from UK

Is this true?

“However, the Portuguese Government has reportedly announced that certificates issued by other countries will be accepted for entry with the UK Covid certificate added from October 4.
From October 4, all UK tourists who have been double-vaccinated with an EU approved vaccination will reportedly be allowed into Portugal without taking a pre departure test.
Every passenger who has been fully vaccinated with the approved vaccines of AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson will be accepted.

British tourists must be able to show their NHS vaccination certificate to enter Portugal but from October 4 will no longer have to have an EU Covid passport or do a pre-departure test according to SchengenVisaInfo.”

I’ve ordered the chronomics antigen lateral test £22.50 each - it’s the one Tui use… I’m flying Ryan Air and cheapest I can find

Longdistance · 11/10/2021 18:26

@CloudPop it’s so confusing. Dd2 is too young, dd1 needs a test going out and after coming back even though she’s had her obligatory one vaccine.

Cal12345 · 11/10/2021 18:49

Same here with my two kids.. age 12 and 14… both had Covid and one vaccination… ordered lateral for pre departure and I’m waiting to order the day 2 return one until I’m away as I think the pcr is going to a lateral…

ChristopherTracy · 11/10/2021 19:14

We have to have a PCR going out. Noone else?

Cal12345 · 11/10/2021 19:31

Portugal is a lateral for 12+
Where are you going that requires a pcr?

Carriemac · 12/10/2021 08:57

He showed his vaccination starus on the app. We also printed a paper copy but have not had to use it anywhere

Longdistance · 12/10/2021 17:26

Thanks for the info @Carriemac very much appreciated.

We're back from a really great break in the Algarve with fabulous weather , warm sea and great food . Worth the faffing with passenger locator and the '(turns out not needed) tests

Remmy123 · 18/10/2021 21:39

Hi - family member going to Lisbon am I right in thinking following rules for double vaccinated:

Vaccination status via the nhs app
Passenger locator form

U.K. to Lisbon - antigen or pcr test within 24 hours
Passenger locator form

Thanks

Longdistance · 18/10/2021 23:25

Yes, vaccine app/form and then. Passenger locator form 4 days before travel to Portugal.

Day 2 of arrival in Uk antigen (cheaper) or PCR and passenger locator form within 48hours of flying back to Uk.

Great thanks

soundingklaxon · 19/10/2021 14:15

Following this with interest. We have teens who are 15- both had their one vaccine. The info from easyJet seems to suggest that under 18's are to be treated as fully vaccinated adults- however, I don't want to get turned back at the airport for the sake of them not doing some tests...
Is it worth them doing the c19 antigen tests?
Also- flying from Scotland...do the same rules apply? Websites only mention Uk...

Longdistance · 19/10/2021 14:50

@soundingklaxon I’ve read it as the EU doesn’t recognise the one vaccine as vaccinated, therefore LFT test needs doing before entering. My dd is 12, has had the one Pfizer vaccine needs an LFT to enter Portugal. Coming back has to test on day 2 (but England) not sure what Scotland rules are.

soundingklaxon · 19/10/2021 15:35

Thanks Longdistance I appreciate this.

Tal45 · 19/10/2021 15:41

God even travel to Europe is a shitshow at the moment isn't it. Why does it have to be so bloody complicated.

Longdistance · 19/10/2021 16:16

I’ve just received the £25 LFT through the post. It’s exactly the same test (Flowflex) as the NHS ones dd12 has been given for free. No difference in the tests apart from I’ve got to take a photo and get someone to say if the test is negative or positive Hmm

Do they not have QR codes to identify them?

We’re off to the Algarve on Saturday. Have a lateral flow test from Chronomics for my 12 yr old. As I understand details from this have to be entered on his passenger locator form so presumably I can’t submit his until he’s done his test. We leave on Saturday morning so planning to do his test tomorrow evening. Am worried about his test not being accepted but this thread has reassured me.

Cal12345 · 20/10/2021 21:25

We are going Portugal Saturday.. we have a 12 and 14 year old. We are doing their laterals Friday after school. On the Portugal passenger locator form there isn’t anywhere to enter the lateral test details…. So I presume it’s just for if we are asked for it at the airport…

Cal12345 · 20/10/2021 21:26

I am doing the passenger locator forms tomorrow as we dint need the test results for it…

notimagain · 20/10/2021 21:44

@Tal45

TBF travel to some european countries (e.g. France) from the UK is fairly straightforward, at least ATM, for the fully vaccinated, certainly much more straightforward than the process the UK has in place for arrivals……
soundingklaxon · 20/10/2021 22:17

Aaagggh! As if I wasn't stressed enough, the tests for the teens that were due today haven't turned up! DPD left a message saying they couldn't deliver, they'd come back tomorrow to try again but they've not even tried! We have video footage (ring doorbell!) showing no one even tried to deliver!
Any last minute solutions of the tests don't turn up tomorrow?!!
