Recommendations for hotels in Amsterdam

I’m trying to plan a surprise trip for OH to Amsterdam and have no clue what I’m looking at

I need recommendations for nice hotels close to the city centre

We’ve just booked a stay at The Craftsmen. It’s a small boutique hotel with a great canal side location (most rooms have a canal view). It’s also pretty good value for money.

The American Hotel is gorgeous. Stunning Art Deco architecture & in a central location. Married to a Dutchman & this is his favourite too.
