Recommendations for Europe

Hi
Looking to book a short haul European holiday for next august (unfortunately need to go during school holidays as we both work in education).
Looking for 2 weeks for me and my husband, 2 kids who will be aged 3 and 4.
We are looking for:
Flight as short as possible - max 2.5 hours
Ideally a quiet resort within walking distance of a choice of places for dinner /ideally along the water.
Definitely not somewhere with huge hotels/nightlife but enough to do for the kids - perhaps a kids pool etc, enough to do in the local area for a couple of day trips.
We don't generally spent more than a couple of days 'by the pool', generally like to do things like hire a boat and take up the coast, boat trips, cycling etc.
We enjoy cycling with the kids on seats at the back - but will only go off road with the kids on the bike so bonus points if it offers traffic free cycle paths
Places we have been and loved:
Lake Garda resorts
Greece (but flights too long with kids)
The med - smaller towns
Can anyone suggest anywhere?

I love Knokke and surroundings at the Belgian coast.

Menorca would fit your bill

Cap Esterel in the south of France

I love Cala Galdana and have been three times, it was the first place abroad I took DD.
I think you honestly can't go wrong with Menorca, nothing is over developed and you'll never find plane loads of stag parties going over to get pissed (which is my nightmare ) but there's still plenty to do. Santo Tomas is a bit busier and just up the road.

I was about to say Cala Galdana but PP beat me to it, the beach is ideal for kids as it's shallow for a long way out.

Adore Cala Galdana and Menorca in general. We usually hire a car so we can bob around. We stay at Cala Blanca bebecause of it's proximity to Cuitadella. Love the whole island.
