What are the current covid test rules for 15 year olds traveling to Spain?

I know you are going to say go and Google it but I have got so bogged down by information, I don't know if I am looking at the right things.

Is it Lateral flow test 72 hours before travel and one in Spain before coming back? What about if a child gets Covid in the UK and tests positive on a PCR. Is it still the case that they have to be clear a certain amount of weeks before they can go away?

It's tricky to make travel plans including our 15 year old whilst cases are so high in this age group.

On my reading, FCDO says quite clearly your 15 YO will need a PCR test.
Normally I prefer to read the source info myself but I agree the Spanish rules are not easy to read!

I don't think you could travel with a positive PCR even if you were able to show NHS pass showing previous infection - and I don't think NHS pass is set up and working for under 16s yet. So I have assumed it would be necessary to cancel.

Be very interested if anyone had experience to the contrary.

I'm so confused. We're going to Tenerife at half term. I thought at first that under 18s would have to self isolate on return but now know that's not the case. But I'm lost when it comes to what tests they need.

rookiemere · 24/09/2021 21:57

Under 18s not double vaccinated need a PCR taken less than 72 hrs before you're due to arrive in Spain/Tenerife.

@rookiemere

I thought only over 12's needed to do a pre travel PCR test?! We travel to Spain next week and I thought only my 14 year old needed a PCR, I haven't booked one for my 9 year old!

texarkana · 25/09/2021 20:14

@mercimacherie if you look at the FCDO link above it says excluding U12s

mercimacherie · 25/09/2021 20:34

@texarkana

That's where I had checked (and elsewhere) but I saw @rookiemere reply and worried the rules had changed.

Sorry as DS is 15 and you said 15 in title, I tend to ignore under 12 guidelines as they aren't relevant to me Blush.
