Am thinking of visiting Kefalonia, can anyone recommend a particular area there they've visited and enjoyed?

It's for myself, my partner and my baby. Just want a holiday to relax and maybe rent a car and do some sightseeing. Will likely go next year so babe will be a toddler.

It's a lovely island. Both major resorts are great. There's the usual Greek tourist restaurants and bars but no real clubbing scene.
Argostoli has more nightlife- the capital - and its beautiful to walk around too

I found it expensive compared to other Greek islands but the pay off, I guess, is no big groups of young 'uns with fishbowls!

Capt Correlli set there for a reason - it's lovely!!

Fiskardo. Absolutely stunning harbour. A few tavernas and bars and a tiny supermarket. Just fabulous

We stayed in Fiskardo too. It’s supposed to be nicer because it’s the opposite end of the island to the airport.

The north end of the island is nicer. The south end is pleasant but very touristy. Not much to see really and the sea is a bit barren so pretty poor for snorkeling.
Food was generally pretty good. The boat trips weren't great, I wouldn't recommend. Being on the boat itself was the nicest part.
We went maybe 6 or 7 years ago so it may have changed a bit but quite a few facilities were closed.

Kefalonia is gorgeous. The area around Fiskardo is lovely.

One year we rented a villa about 30 minutes from Argostoli (so in the south) and were surprised that some of the beaches were really empty - We had expected it to be very touristy. However we've only ever been in September.
