Trusted holiday rental companies?

Hi, we usually go to centre parcs in the UK but prices are crazy and it just doesn’t seem value for money! I’m thinking about a holiday rental - something 5 star/luxury and on the coast within 3/4 hours of Manchester. There are so many rental companies, and I’m worried about scams. Are there any big ones that I can trust?

I've used Airbnb a couple of times and had brilliant stays. If you choose a "superhost" then I think you're very safe.

Cottages.com is another one, and I think they also own VRBO. HolidayLettings is part of TripAdvisor, so all of those should be safe to use.

Coquet Cottages cover Northumberland. They are fantastic, have been staying with them since they were tiny with just a handful of cottages. Their customer service is the best I've known, they have won lots of awards, deservedly so.

I prefer to deal with a company with local connections and people, rather than the giant faceless companies like Airbnb.
