Croatia - Dubrovnik

We're thinking about booking a villa here in June (kids now all left school so we can go when flights are cheaper ).

Looks lovely but I wondered if anyone has been and has any good tips.

We like eating out, historical stuff, a few day trips (will be hiring a car), along with days sitting by the pool and drinking wine! Kids are probably coming with, definitely our ds (20) and possibly his girlfriend, def our dd2 (18) and her boyfriend. Possibly dd1 (22) and probably not her partner. They like much the same as us but might want more of a typical "night out" than we do.

I'm a wheelchair user for long distances but can walk several steps and get up and down stairs.

It's a beautiful area. Is the villa in one of the coastal resorts near Dubrovnik? One thing I would say is that it's a hilly area. Many resorts are steep outside the area right by the coast. Dubrovnik itself has some main streets that are flat, but cobbled and there are a lot of very long steep sets of steps to access other parts of the city. You may find this challenging as you mention needing a wheelchair for more than short walks and only being able to manage a few steps. I wouldn't want to put you off, as it is lovely there, but I would suggest you research carefully before booking for those reasons.

Dubrovnik itself is lovely but gets horrendously busy when it’s business as usual, mostly but not solely due to cruise ships. It is hard enough to get around for non wheelchair users. Might not be so bad in June as the family groups won’t have arrived yet.
