Iberostar recommendations?

Hi all, we went to Majorca this summer (Albufera Park) with our 3 children age 5, 9 and 10 and loved it.

We would like to try another Iberostar and wondered if anyone could recommend one from recent experience?

I've been looking at the Anthelia in Tenerife but can't work out if the entertainment is similar to Majorca (in other words is it every night in Tenerife and do they have the Stella and Starkey mascots)?

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

I love an Iberostar!

We stayed at Las Dalias (Tenerife) and it was great. We were there as a group without children, so didn't take too much notice of the entertainment but what we did see looked great. There was plenty going on in the daytimes and shows at night. There is a kids club.

The bar staff would walk around with ice lollies and chopped up fruit etc. There was slushy machines and sweets on the bar.

We thought it was so great we were meant to go at Easter 2020 with the kids but obviously that didn't happen.

We've just booked the Ciudad Blanca (Majorca) for a long weekend in October. I haven't been before but it's 4.5 TripAdvisor blobs so i reckon it must be ok!

Curlybrunette thanks so much for your reply! Ciudad Majorca is on my shortlist so I'll be very interested to see how you get on. I've never been to a hotel where the staff and animation teams were so genuinely friendly. I'm hoping this is replicated throughout iberostar.

I'll let you know, we are just waiting for the next travel announcement in case anything crazy happens, but have the hotel booked (on a cancellable rate just in case) and just can't wait to book the flights and get there.

We were meant to be going 2 weeks ago but DH and DSs got covid the day before we were meant to go. I so need sunshine and a cocktail or 3!

We've been to the Ciudad Blanca twice - never usually go back to a hotel but just loved it.

It's right on the most amazing beach. Food is great, staff are lovely. Swimming pool is huge and entertainment is fun.

Looking at the Iberostar Cristina at Palma Beach for next year but need a discount code first!

Curlybrunette · 16/09/2021 16:39

OH great @littlequestion thanks, there was meant to be an announcement tonight, but I've heard it's been moved to tomorrow. I'm dying to book!

Oh we love an Iberostar! Can't help with your actual question but wanted to join the Ibero love 😂

The first one I even went to was in the Dominican Republic, over 20 years ago and I still remember!!!

We had the holiday from hell at an Iberostar last month. Two Russian men (aged late 50s to early 60s) harassed our young daughters (aged 10, 15, 17) repeatedly. My 15 year old was screaming 'F-ck O-f' at them but they wouldn't stop. It happened twice. When we complained to management - they did nothing. The men were left free to roam the hotel because the hotel had no policy against pedophiles.

We had gone to one of Iberostar's family hotels - we are absolutely appalled that they allowed this to happen. Nothing like this has ever happened to us before. We would never ever stay at one of their hotels again.

I’ve been to the Anthelia.

We loved it. They do have children’s entertainment every night followed by an adult show which is family friendly as well.

Russians on holiday can cause issues because they seem to have very different cultural norms to other Europeans. The men do not come across well put it that way. They allow their children to be far more unsupervised as well so they can often misbehave annoying other guests.

juguetico · 28/02/2022 10:28

Just to be clear - this was a case of 2 old Russian men letching on my 10 year old, 15 year old and 17 year old - saying disgusting things to them and trying to get them to leave with them. My daughters were screaming at them to leave them alone. The 15 year old was so distressed that she was yelling 'F-ck 0ff' at the top of her lungs to get the men to go away. In both instances, they only stopped because guests came by and put a stop to it.

This isn't a "cultural norm." I've travelled all over the world, lived in seven countries across Europe and Latin America...and I've never seen this. This is filthy old men sexually harassing girls under 18 at a family hotel. If you're ok with old men sexually harassing children and ignoring their pleas and screams to leave them alone, that's up to you. I would never feel safe staying at an Iberostar hotel that does nothing to sanction such men and protect children.

We went to club Calabarca iberostar in Majorca. It was fantastic.

victoriaaurora · 28/02/2022 16:46

Have stayed in the Iberiostar Playa de Muro in Majorca. Was a pleasant experience and you can also use the bigger hotel next door. The only thing I would say though is the sea view rooms are worlds apart from the normal ones. The bog standard ones are close to the road and not nice. Opt for sea view or pool view to be sure of decent surroundings.

littlequestion · 05/03/2022 13:20

That sounds terrible, @juguetico. Which country was that in?

indiesearcher · 05/03/2022 19:55

Highly recommend Iberostar Lanzarote Park in Playa Blanca - brilliant family trip. Super hotel.

70kid · 07/03/2022 08:37

I’ve just come back from the Iberostar Bounganvilla in Tenerife
Lots of kids but didn’t see any mascots kids entertainment
But loads to do with kids including a games room pool with slides
We were 2 adults though so wasn’t really looking at kids stuff
Lovely hotel and great location in Costa Adeje

fuzzwuss · 08/03/2022 16:39

Ha ! I've been to both the Albufera Park and the Anthelia! The food is amazing in Anthelia, the kids club has its own little pool, and does things like foam parties. Opportunities to kick a ball around though are much more limited than in Mallorca. The entertainment in Tenerife is inside, which I thought was not as nice, but the shows themselves were pretty identical. It is every night and yes Starky and Stella and the mini disco do happen. (although I think the experience was nicer in Mallorca, more kids, and the outside element was better)

As a family we loved the Gaviotas Park in Fuerteventura . Very spacious pool area , lots of sunbeds and the usual fantastic kids club , can recommend the suite rooms - huge .
