Recommendations for Canary Islands? Couple without kids!

So I’m absolutely useless at booking holidays.. I go round and round in circles doing so much research and then don’t end up booking anywhere because I just get overwhelmed by the options! The last time we went away abroad was 4 years ago due to this! finally had something booked last year then covid obviously happened! So I thought I’d pop on here as I know some people will be very knowledgable and enjoy sharing tips etc/enjoy being a holiday fairy godmother! I probably won’t book it for a while because I’m uncertain about covid but I’m thinking of booking a holiday 2nd-9th January, possibly in the Canary Islands so it’s a little escape from the terrible British weather/the post Christmas slump! We are late 20s/early 30s, no children, and like somewhere with a bit of culture/history with maybe an old town, but also love the beach/pool if it’s private, not that I’ve ever stayed somewhere with a private pool haha but I’m sure I would love it 😂! our favourite holiday so far (out of 3 😂😂) has been Nice as we loved going to the beach and also going out for lots of nice meals/wandering around the old town, as well as going on the train to nearby places on the riviera but this probably will be a slightly more laid back holiday I’d imagine! The only thing is we’d love to not have to hire a car, but very happy to walk, maybe max 30 mins walk from a beach. I’ve been on Airbnb and spotted a few nice places with private pools but big drives to anywhere! So does anyone have any recommendations on particular islands/areas of islands? I’ve been on so many ‘best areas to stay in canaries’ blogs all with obviously different places highlighted and just need someone to guide me 😂😂 Open to suggestions that aren’t the canaries too, just would love it to be fairly nice weather, happy for around 20degrees! Budget is fairly flexible but I’m always keen on good value/not up for super extravagance! Think top I’d be happy to pay would be £1000 for accommodation if it was really perfect and had a private pool, or like a beautiful hotel with breakfast included and maybe access to a pool, if it didn’t then would prefer £400-600! Super super grateful to anyone who likes to impart their knowledge!! Thank you!!!

In January, temperatures in Majorca average about 10C with highs of 15C. For me, that’s too chilly for a beach and I’d only want a pool that was heated. That means you’re unlikely to find a private pool, especially for your budget. Morocco is about 19C in January (on a full-sun day). I think you’d either have to change the time of year you go (a few months can make all the difference) or look further afield.

@Ricekrispie22 Mallorca isn't in the Canary Islands.

@Friedbanana puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria is beautiful.

Canary Islands are short on culture and history tbh. I'd say Sicily might be better option. But not as sunny. Or Cape Verde.

I’d suggest Marrakech. We went there in December and it was very cold morning and evening but sunny and warm (I was in a bikini and I hate the cold) in the middle of the day. The hotel lit fires in the morning and evening which was lovely. Loads of culture obviously!

Canaries weather won’t be much warmer compared with Marrakech and a higher chance of rain. And unfortunately the nice old towns in the Canaries tend to be in the cooler/rainier parts of the islands, and most of the tourist accommodation is in soulless concrete resort towns.

FUetevenura is lovely. Its a small islad so you can get around on bus/car really easily.
Corallejo (NE) is very nice, good sized town, plenty of good eats and beaches.
El Cottilo (NW) is less resorty/a bit more lux with wild wonderful beaches.

Lots of interest and arty stuff in Lanzarote - Cesar Manrique was a local artist who influenced the architecture of the island and you can visit his house and a few other places.

There's also vineyards, the volcano park, cactus garden. It only takes an hour to drive the entire length of the island, so lots of options to travel around. Also watersports, boat trips eg get ferry over to Fuerteventura for a change of scene.

We stayed here. You get a small private pool, but I don't think it's heated.

Five minutes walk to marina and beach and a large convenience store and bakery even closer for drinks/snacks/pastries etc.

There's also show caves, which are interesting, forgot to mention those.

Hotel Nayra in Playa del Ingles is an amazing hotel. Across the road from the Yumbo Centre.

Second Porto de Morgan. Beautiful, great restaurants. A very civilised hotel is Playa Cordial. No private pool but few children and a suite gets you more privacy.
Enjoy wherever you go
