We are looking for a winter sun holiday for the family, myself & dh plus a 1 yr old and 3 yr old. Thought the canaries would be a good bet as not too far to fly. Can anyone recommend a good company/hotel/island/area??? Any recommendations gratefully received.

Katieh: We are recently returned from a week in Tenerife with dd, aged 5. We stayed at the Bahia del Duque, and had a very nice holiday. There were a few other hotels, perhaps a bit better value, along the same part of the coast. The key thing was that the weather was quite nice, loads of swimming opportunities in the pools and ocean (maybe ocean won't be such an option in the winter), decent food and pretty child friendly all around. There were a few good excursions you could take that would be ok for little ones, although the whale watching and volano park trips might be a bit much for them. We mostly relaxed in the hotel, which had lovely grounds, and spent loads of time in the water. The hotel had two baby pools great for really little ones, but also several pools which were chest deep for the most part so adults could easily enjoy but have their feet on the ground while playing with small children in the water. The hotel had a buffet-only restaurant for dinners, which was a great option with small children as it was pretty casual, plenty of choice, etc. A bit expensive, although I understand we could have had it included as half board for less money. There were a number of very cheap restaurants along the water front, as well, but we didn't really use them. We met a very nice couple there with a two year old and an infant, and it was all good for them, so should be ok for yours, as well. Good kids club - low key, but very nice. Let me know if there is anything specific I can tell you.
