Done day 2 PCR wrong. What happens?

So I’m tired and sick of all the testing! Trying to do the Randox tests quickly and I realised I’ve put the samples in the wrong tube for 2 of the samples. What happens now?

I wouldn't worry too much - our Day 2 tests haven't even arrived yet and we're now on Day 3. The whole thing is a scam.

Delatron · 26/08/2021 20:42

Yeah that’s my thinking too. Is anyone even checking? I’m just going to post them off wrong. I guess they’ll come back inconclusive and then what? They’ve got my money so the company don’t care.

Such a scam!

Same here - ours never arrived and we're on day 6 - the whole thing is a joke.

We did some lateral flow tests at home on day 2 and uploaded the results on the gov/nhs website just to cover our backs but not heard anything from anyone yet....

Delatron · 26/08/2021 20:46

Thanks both.

It really is a joke. I’m guessing nobody will follow up if it comes back inconclusive then.

Don’t even worry about it. We paid £300 for our Day Two tests for a family of four last week . Still waiting on results for our youngest DC four days later . An absolute money making scam and I’m furious!

Zippy1510 · 26/08/2021 20:48

What do you mean by wrong tube? Our in laws used randox and managed to log the wrong code, then package without the box but still got their results
Within 24 h

That’s frustrating @Swishswish26 I’m hearing lots of stories like that. The whole system is pointless.

@Zippy1510 I thought you swirled it around in the liquid then put it in the other container which has a fabric swab in it. I’m tired and didn’t read the instructions clearly! So the swab isn’t in the liquid now. I’m so used to LFT this was completely different. And I care less now we’re home!

OP posts:
Delatron · 26/08/2021 20:54

Yeah @Whattodoaboutnothing who is checking all the results? Is anyone even checking that everyone has sent them off.

OP posts:
stringbean · 26/08/2021 20:56

Evidently not - no-one has contacted us to ask if we've shipped our non-existent tests. And what would they do about it anyway? We followed the rules to book tests and coughed up the ££: it's the government-sanctioned companies that are failing to deliver.

Delatron · 26/08/2021 21:07

Yes. My thinking is as long as you had the code for your PLF then that is all they care about. No follow up checks.

I didn’t even have to put the kids codes on the PLF. Then if you don’t do them/send them off? What is the comeback?

Anyway, thanks all. I feel a bit better about my massive lack of attention to detail.

OP posts:
stringbean · 26/08/2021 21:17

Agree - our dd is 16 and, as we added her onto one of our PLFs, they didn't ask for her test reference code: so no-one is going to be checking for her test result.

If the post-travel testing was a robust process, I wouldn't mind, but it's so full of holes. The testing companies know no-one is checking on this either, so they're not bothered if they send you the kits or not, they already have our money.

yourstroobly · 26/08/2021 23:30

I did my day two but it apparently arrived at the lab damaged. So they emailed me to tell me I needed to do another one....

They didn't actually bother sending me out another one, I assume I would've had to pay for another one. So I didn't bother. No comeback at all.

No one cares, it's a complete shambles if no one is checking up on them!

flightofthewilderbeast · 26/08/2021 23:45

My day 2 arrived on day 4, it took 6 days to get the result. It was the cheapest I could find but still came off the gov website. No one has contacted me to check.

It really is shocking. I hope more and more is said in the press and the government are held up to account for this. Shambolic.

They’d be better off just doing a bit of random testing at airports. But that wouldn’t make any money...

Agree it’s safer abroad than here at the moment. We ate outside for every meal.

Thinking about the Day 2 test and I have a query after finding out my test provider want you to drop your test as a specific drop box (miles away from where I live).

Can you swan on day 2 and then post it a day or so after?

freedompeaches · 30/08/2021 17:30

@JBlow hmm I would say no because isn't the whole idea of priority boxes to make sure it gets there quickly so the sample isn't compromised?
Disclaimer - I don't actually have a clue

MsFogi · 30/08/2021 17:40

The whole thing is a racket - we never heard back from sending off our Day 2 and Day 8 tests. So the £400 was simply to have a code to put on the API form.

JBlow · 30/08/2021 17:52

It does seem to be a money spinner, maybe to pay for the furlough

Delatron · 31/08/2021 10:38

Well I didn’t want to do an hour round trip to the drop box so booked a courier. Thinking I’d booked next day delivery. Collected Friday. Delivered today. So completely out of the time window. Had one email from Randox saying they hadn’t received it for one of the boxes but that’s it.

I’ll let you know if there’s any comeback as I’ve royally messed up my day 2 tests.

OP posts:
Delatron · 31/08/2021 10:41

My provider said not to use Royal Mail. I think they’d have got it there quicker than the paid courier! It needs to arrive to be tested within a timeframe (I think 3 days).

Which makes you wonder about al those uncollected Randox boxes piled up at drop boxes that we saw on the media..
