Anyone flown from East Mids or Manchester recently?

Looking to book something in the next few weeks and live pretty much equal distant from each airport. I am thinking Manchester is likely to be busier / longer queues / more annoying with the kids and less Covid safe due to these things but has anyone actually flown in and out recently?

We will actually be going outside of the summer hols, end of September and most likely to Portugal or Greece but not sure that is relevant.

Thanks

We flew out of Manchester early Sunday morning; absolutely no problems at all! We live in Greater Manchester and the flight was very early however we left home at 3.35 and were air side at 4 20! Never been so quick

Yes, east mids both in and out over the past 2 weeks. Honestly the easiest airport experience we’ve ever had! Airport was dead on the way out, we flew mid afternoon and there were only 5 other flights that day, ours was the last one. Didn’t queue at all for bag drop off or security. Plane departed early and arrived early at destination.
Easy when we flew back too… just through passport control as normal, no queue.
Wish it was always like that Grin

Wow @MissFritton65 that is impressive! Maybe I should aim for a Sunday morning departure. Have you returned yet? Wondering what thr passport control queues are like on arrival back in Manchester.

We are in Greece and only arrived yesterday, flying home on 5th so can't comment on the return leg however it was one of the easiest flights we've ever had and we are usually pretty frequent flyers.

Thanks @Neverrains, where did you fly to (if you don't mind me asking). I have just seen another thread about Jet 2 adding in extra stops / pick ups to flights (basically combining flights) which sounds highly annoying!

Returned from 11 nights in Crete via EMA yesterday. Pretty busy going out, there were several flights in the hour before us, it quietened down after they boarded. No issues with security etc. Coming back, late flight back, landed early, bags ready and car park bus waiting. Only delays are the daft passport scanner machines being rubbish!

Take a look at how many flights are going out of each terminal... Believe me t2 man was almost empty recently when I went through....

I've just arrived back into Manchester. It was so quiet!

There was a queue to check in but that moved quite quickly and we flew through security.

When we landed in Manchester last night we were through passport control within minutes. I've never known it that quick!

EMA out on 7th and back on 17th. It was absolutely pain free- not crowded, just a 10 minute queue for checking on the way out and walked straight through passport check on return.

Flew from Manchester last week, check in and security almost empty. Airside a few passengers but loads of free seats and tables. Felt weird tbh there were so few people. Plane to Mallorca was about 1/3 full.

Flew from Manchester on a Saturday recently and paid £5 for fast track, my feet hardly touched the ground before I was in departures. Arrival was quick and straightforward too. The airport and shops were not busy.

Was a bit concerned how far I got into the airport without showing my passport while wearing a mask and the security at fast track were chaotic.

I flew from Manchester on Saturday early hours. I would say the airport was a lot less busier than normal times.
