Holiday cottage - urine smell matress

We've just arrived at our holiday cottage in Devon. Went into main bedroom and it smells a but like wee. The bed smells more so. Lifted the sheets to find a massive wee stain. Have messaged the cleaning contacts for the booking. What else would you do and what would you expect to be done?!

Is it an independently owned cottage managed by agents?

I would expect that they contact the owners and see if they have a spare mattress from their home they could provide.
Are there any other beds in the cottage you could use if not, until they could provide a new one the next day? Is the mattress Turnable? Any supermarkets nearby where they could get new mattress protectors or sheets?

I would not be happy but I imagine turning round and going home would be the very last resort.

Turn mattress and insist agent/owner gets a new topper and mattress protector.
I wouldn’t be at all happy with this as the cleaners should have reported it today at changeover clean.

How clean is the rest of the cottage? if the cleaners havent sorted this i would see if they are lax with everything ....we once had one managed by a large agency that was disgusting including old food in the fridge. Especially important during a pandamic

That’s totally unacceptable, the owners need to be contacted & a new mattress delivered
Things like this really wreck a holiday that you’ve paid a lot of money for

Thanks all. I posted in part as my DH is super relaxed about stuff like this whereas I felt something should be done!

Spoke to cleaners yesterday. DH slept on the bed last night and I took a spare single in the kids room. Littlest is in travel cot.

Owner was contacted by the cleaner yesterday and asked to come round today to have a look. 2 hours after they came, the owner called and said he's given the authorisation for a new matress to be delivered tomorrow or the day after (depending on when the local shop can do it). This seems like a good resolution. I still won't sleep on the bed until it's replaced. DH may sleep on the very large couch tonight.

Answers to questions asked -
The flat/cottage was v clean. Not sure how the cleaner missed the wee stains. They're pretty obvious but they could have been working quickly I guess. The apartment has a washing machine so the party responsible may have washed the bedding.
Yes independent cottage managed by agents.
Not a turntable matress - memory foam on top side.
The rental was a lot of money (well I think so) but maybe it's just the going rate for school hols and a pretty fab apartment with an uninterrupted sea view and massive terrace BBQ, and pool. Hard to tell. Especially with the pandemic.
