Holiday early October before starting IVF

The starting IVF thing is only relevant as I hope this will be mine and DP's last holiday as a couple!! We finally have our hospital appointment late October after referall by our NHS clinic which has taken forever.

We had planned on going to Italy for 10 days but given current restrictions there we're unlikely to go (isolating for five days on arrival). We haven't been abroad since before the pandemic and I'd like more than a UK break. Ideally some sun. First week of October.

Willing to risk an amber country. Grateful for any recommendations of nice hotels, ideas for countries/places. Anything!

What sort of holiday do you want? Sightseeing/relaxing?

Hey OP,

My family visited Greece and Cyprus last month and they had great fun. I think you can also come to Spain (I am not sure if there is a quarantine from UK but you can easily check it I think). Malta is a great option as well!

If you want something relaxing and different, I would recommend choosing some village in the countryside with a great view, but maybe that's what I would choose.

Thanks for the replies and sorry for not responding sooner @undertheash . Yes I'd like something relaxing. I'd love a countryside break with a villa and pool but DP really likes coastal! I've seen some all inclusive deals to Barbados and Antigua (green list). But I'd be very happy with Greece!

Madeira? Currently on the green watchlist even though Portugal is on Amber. It doesn't have the big "strip" or large hotel complexes that many Med resorts have so even in the Easter holidays we found it was a relatively adult place and didn't seem to attract lots of families. There's hotels right by the sea in Funchal and it's easy to get inland for mountains, walks, greenery etc.

Have a look at Porto Santo island (it's near Madeira, with its own airport). Currently green list. Booked with TUI and stayed at the Hotel Pestana Porto Santo last week - it was beautiful and we felt safe.

I'd recommend Vila Vita Parc on the Algarve. It is a lovely hotel in beautiful grounds on a cliff top.

Looks amazing but £4k just for the room for one week is a bit out of my price range sadly

@Imissmybum oh dear I didn’t realise it would be that much in October. We went there on a BA holidays package out of season. If you do a search on the BA holidays website you will find cheaper options.
