Holidays
Majorca - Cala D’or
Tinks15 · 17/08/2021 21:07
We’ve booked to go next August me, DP & 2 DD (7 & 4).
I have heard it’s a lovely part & very much looking forward to it but just wanted to know is there much to do there. DD’s are going to be happy with just the pool/beach but want to know if there’s any trips or local things we can do if we wanted. We aren’t planning on renting a car there.

Watching with interest as have been looking at Cala D’or myself - it looks beautiful and a friend recommended. Like you we are looking for child friendly holiday.

@HopelesslyDevoted2 we’ve booked the Inturotel Cala Azul.

Cala d'Or has beautiful beaches. We went on a day visit there whilst on holiday
www.cuevasdeldrach.com/ These caves are worth a visit and I am sure there will be a bus trip from your hotel there.

I've stayed there 12 years ago. DC were about 13 and 15. It's lovely. The resort was busy but no all inclusive, that meant plenty of thriving bars and restaurants.

Dh took them to caves I have mobility issues so I stayed back at the hotel with Cava 😀

There is masses to do but I wouldn’t be scared of hiring a car. It’s cheap and the road system is fine!
Palma city is incredible. The cathedral is stunning. You can do Palma in less than a day from there.
Investigate the gorgeous west coast - some beautiful and very affluent spots with amazing views.
Drive up to cape formentor.
Visit Miro’s house and studio just outside Palma
Caves of Drach is good but always tourist packed.
Basically - stay in resort if you want but it’s like any other resort with bars, hotels etc. Majorca on the whole is a very interesting and diverse island and well worth a wider look even if it’s for a day or two.

Lots to do in that area of Mallorca. Well worth looking at Cal d'Or on YouTube if you want more ideas and more of a flavour of the place.
Car hire used to be cheap in Mallorca but like many places prices are much more expensive post Covid. However, the roads are of good quality and it's well worth hiring one if you want to venture further afield. It's a relatively small island and you can easily travel around it to see many of its attractions. The bus network is also generally pretty good too.

@FizziWater that’s really great to hear! I don’t think I’ve read one bad review about this place.
The caves sound good I think the girls would like this.
Maybe we should think about hiring a car for a day or two then would be nice to visit other areas of the island. Definitely wouldn’t mind catching the bus if that’s pretty easy.

We stayed in a villa there in 2019. June time, was fairly quiet. Lovely beaches, nice eateries and overall relaxing.
PeacheyPeach · 18/08/2021 16:13
@feejee have you got any links for the villa you stayed in?
