Looking to book something last minute, can you help speed up my research? Looking for something on the beach and ideally walking distance to a town.
Never been before so have no idea of where is best to start

We went to Split a few years ago, really enjoyed it. Great location loads to do plus beaches.

The beaches are mostly rocky & stony, take water shoes.

Water shoes make a world of difference! I too have been near Split and enjoyed it, but was too close to the airport flight path which was very noisy. South of Split should be better. I stayed at Trogir and very close to town, on the island just beside the town/where the town expands to so to speak (look at the map). On the other side of that island, a distance you can walk (but it's strenuous Grin), is much quieter and more "resortlike". Lots of beaches. Trogir is fun to visit since it's been used in a lot in filming, including Dr Who.

thanks for the tip! I'll get some beach shoes

Split and Zadar are both lovely or any of the resorts around either of those towns. Both of them not far from the airport so no long transfers. You are in for a treat if it’s your first visit. As people have said no sandy beaches but I prefer a stony pebbly beach and yes recommend the water shoes for them and for bathing in the sparkling Adriatic Sea.
