Are there any ice-rinks in the North West?

DD is doing so well with her roller blades I'm sure she'd love to try ice. But I don't know of any ice rinks. I was wondering if there were any temporary ones at this time of year. Any recommendations?

Preferably Lancashire, maybe Cheshire or Cumbria....

Not sure of any temporary ones , but I used to live in Carlisle and we always used to go to Lockerbie ice skating in the winter.

new one in Altrincham looks great

the new winter sports centre on the M60 - but not sure if they have a rink..google them

fryalot · 28/11/2007 15:38

There was always one at Altrincham when I was growing up.

I presume it's still there.

fryalot · 28/11/2007 15:39

xposts with JOanWilder - a NEW one? Is it in the same place as the old one?

katybump · 28/11/2007 15:39

in picadilly[sp] gardens, think there may be one near the trafford centre too

EmsMum · 28/11/2007 15:57

Google has so far yielded ski slopes (Chill factor opposite trafford centre). Which is also of interest. But not till well after xmas in that location I think!

The altrincham rink is a new one.

deeside have one.

also chester zoo had a temp one in december last year- not sure if they'll do the same this year

Fireflytoo · 28/11/2007 17:14

There is a good one in Blackburn...huge and not too expensive either.

MerlinsBeard · 28/11/2007 17:17

squonk the original altrincham ice rink closed down a few years ago but there is a new one now right near the train/metro stop. haven;t yet been but its supposed to be really good.

piccadilly gardens has a temp one as does chester zoo

Don't think Chill Factor e (the new snow dome place off the m60) has one - DPs band played there and he never mentioned it, think its just slopes for the skiers

Blackpool pleasure beach has one

frothykindofadrink · 29/11/2007 07:09

Morecambe?

EmsMum · 29/11/2007 22:46

Thanks - the morecambe one sounds worth trying if the weather is decent that week as it says its free!

Otherwise Blackburn sounds like the best bet. We tend to avoid Blackpool...not DHs sort of place (having grown up in Clacton I'm not a seaside resort snob but he is )
