Weekend trip to France

I'm curious as to how easy this would be to do now. Because you have to take a test 3 days before you return to England, could you take one in England before you set off, Then take a day 2 test on return?

I’ve just come back from a holiday in France . The pre departure test can be taken up to 72 hrs before you arrive back in UK, so if going for a weekend I would suggest maybe taking the test the day before you return to the Uk? You can do a lateral flow test at the nearest pharmacy (that offers them) and get the results after 15/20 mins. You would need to book an appointment for the test first though

You can search for covid test centres in France via

Have a look at this article (if the link works) - Simon Calder calls it the long weekender. We are doing it to Croatia soon - taking a rapid test on Monday with results just before getting on a flight. Using that same test on our re-entry to the UK on Thursday as it was taken 3 days beforehand.

You would still need to do the day 2 test

Although I should caveat that with we are doing rapid LFT's as Croatia accept them on entry. You would need to be very careful with timings if you needed a PCR as they take longer to return, even the quicker ones you can get at an airport. Hope that makes sense.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Baggsie :)
