I am due my third LO at he end of Feb, obviously he/she will go into a rear facing car seat. My other two (DD 23mths & DS 8mths) both are in front facing car seats....I have a Freelander and was wondering does anyone have three car seats in the back of theirs? by the time my third is 8/9 months old and going into a car seat my eldest will only be 2 yrs 10 months, thats still too young to go into a booster isnt it ( although she is quite tall)??

Was just wondering what others do.. what cars you drive and do you think i might have to change the car?

You can fit 3 front facing car seats in the back of a renault scenic.

thanks Connor!

I guess no one else either;
a) drives or
b) is daft enough to have three kids in car seats!!

You can also fit three car seats into a citroen picasso.
Good luck!

I have asked similar question as will have three kids under two by February (got DS who is 21 months and twins due on 2 Feb). If you do a search there are quite a few threads, lots of advice. It's a pain though as I would LIKE a car with three isofix points but they are few and far between. We currently have a Golf. I think it will be one newborn in front seat with airbag disabled and DS and other newborn in back until we get ourselves sorted.

Glad someone else out there will be in a similar situation!

We've got 4 DC and have a Toyota Estmia although its an 8 seater and maybe too big for what you need but its a fabulous car with loads and loads of room

good luck with no 3!

i have a mondeo estate (old style) which can fit 3 at a squeeze - look out for 'sculpted' seats, which are a nighmare as they tip the outside car seats towards the centre. Sorry, I am always saying this but call the Britax helpline, they are very knowledgeable about these matters.

We have a Jaguar X-type and have dd who is 4 in a booster seat, ds 15 months in a proper car seat and then this baby who is now 1 day over due in the 1st stage seat.

They all fit ok but the booster seat has to go in the middle otherwise it doesnt work.

If that makes sense.

Aha! Another mug going through the same thing .

We have a focus estate, can't fit thre seats in that as the seats are slightly bucketed, you'll have the same problem with most non-mpv cars.

Done lots of research myself and most people in our situation have a citroen xsara picasso, been trying them out for size and they are very roomy inside for the size of car -it's one thing fitting the car seats it but then you have to be able to reach the straps etc. Alternative is the Renault Megane (there is a current thread on these). Benefit of both these is having 3x 3 point seat belts. Citroens are coming down in price a lot at the mo.

Other than that your on to a people carrier, seat alhambras are very good value and good spec for money. Middle seat is often a lap belt, you cannot legally change it to a 3 point belt so you are stuck with it.

Not sure about the freelander, I am only familar with two, similar age both TD4 and dopn't think 3 seats will fot. I suggest going to your local halfords are keeping them busy with all the different options of car seats - thats what we did withthe focus(will have to avoid them for some time now

ds1 nearly 4 is in a high backed booster and dt are 8 months and are in rear facing. They are all in the back of my picasso (well not now they are in bed )

sorry to clarify - middle seat on most larger MPVs I've seen is a lap belt - it is on all alhanbras, ford galaxies, vw sharans (the 3 are exactly the same effectively just diff badge and spec for your money)
