some silly old woman hit my car door when it was open .... i know car seats should be replaced after an accident - does this count? Should I replace it? thanks

I presume the car door took the full blow? If so I really don't think your car seats will have suffered any structural damage as a result.

it depends how far away the impact was- speak to your insurance company anyway as they should pay for a replacement if it is deemed nescessary after an accident (and they are usually pretty good about it too!)

My car was shunted whilst parked (no-one in it) and they replaced the dt's silver cross explorers and dd's maxi-cosi cabrio (but not the base) without any quibbles- best bit was i bought them from my own shop and made a few bob

yeah the door took the blow 0 dh was doing up the straps with dd in it when the woman went past - nearly took dh out at the same time!!!!

I work at the insurers in the claims department - car seats come under personal effects and we aren't allowed to give advice on whether to replace or not - ie if we say no and the seat is damaged and something terrible then happens then we could be held accountable

i've searched the web and can't find an advice on this - i'd put it through as an uninsured loss and claim from her insurers but i have the maxi cosi priorifix and would have to buy it first and claims back - i'm skint at the moment too becuase of xmas

personally i'd change it- you never know do you! and as long as you will get the money back i'd buy it now- your dd won't notice a bit of penny pinching at christmas- she's too young, and think when the money comes back to you it will be the sales (bonus!!)

At least you will know that she is safe and you don't have that niggly feeling at the back of your mind each time you take her in the car!

HTH!

thanks preggers - i know you're right - reading back my post i sounded like a real meanee

i'll get ordering now - they do a pint one now too - a bit more girlie than the black one we have now - having had ds first i'm making to most of gilie stuff

i know its a lot of money just before christmas but the lurking guilt would be worse especially if you did (god forbid!) have another ding over the icy christmas period!

Yey for the sales and your insurance payout have fun!!
