Has anyone flown with Wizz air?

I think we've got a really good deal. Yes I know it's a budget airline and I'm not expecting much. But I'm a little confused over check in. Does it cost me anything to check in the bags I've already booked?

I've used them a lot, no problems. It can be a little chaotic at the airport, but they'll get you where you're going. Just make sure you check in on line before check-in closes and have your boarding pass saved on a mobile device or printed out; they often charge extra to check in and print the pass at the airport.

If you've paid up front for luggage or it's included in the rate you booked, you don't have to pay again unless you're over the weight limit or have to check an additional bag. Your confirmation email should list any bags you've paid for or that are included in your rate (beyond their basic carry-on allowance).

Great thank you. I read summer reviews after booking and was panicking that we had to pay to check in and then extra for handing over our bags!!
So so much cheaper than other airlines.

Have flown quite a lot with them - they’re fine !

I've never flown from Doncaster but hoping it will mean a quieter airport than normal.

We booked with them in late 2019 and a few days before the flight they changed both the departure times to ridiculous times which meant we effectively lost 2 days of our 5 day holiday. It also meant arriving in at 2am with young children and departing at silly o clock in the morning. I managed to get a refund and won’t use them again.

I’ve flown with them before, they’re fine. Don’t expect 5* service, but they’re not awful either. I’ve had worse experiences with easyJet.

Keep in mind their basic hand luggage allowance doesn’t actually include a small suitcase, it’s only one handbag/backpack sized item. Anything else needs to be pre-booked. Check in before you go to the airport, have boarding passes on the app/phone wallet/print them off.

I’ve never flown from Doncaster but looking at their flight schedules, the airport should be quiet. The actual flights with Wizzair that I’ve done tend to be busy but nothing crazy.

We flew with Wizzair pre Covid…absolutely brilliant..this was in 2015 .

NCTDN · 24/07/2021 22:58

All baggage pre booked. Fingers crossed flight times don't change- thanks for the reassurance!

They're probably very similar to Ryanair. Not a luxury experience, but read all their rules about size and weight of luggage and check in requirements and you'll be fine.

Many problems that people have with bags and check in are due to them not reading the rules for the individual airline and assuming that all budget airlines are the same, when they're not.

Just an update for anyone who might look at this thread when booking flights.

So our flights got changed to a day later two months after booking. Not a huge issue as still weekend flights but did mean that DCs would miss a morning of school. We had to redo all the accommodation to a day later.
One month on and an email appears to say flights are cancelled! These are flights in October half term to a very popular winter sun destination. How can they be cancelled? I'm not at all happy.

Aghhh, that's so rubbish OP. I'm really sorry 😣. Will you still be able to fly with someone else or is the whole holiday cancelled now?

NCTDN · 24/09/2021 16:47

Luckily other airlines have released more flights since we booked so we're now with Ryanair.
