Short solo break ideas

Looking for a short break in the sun (abroad). Ideally green or Amber country but aware these are changing at the rate of knots at the moment.

Needs to be somewhere that I can combine lying by a pool ideally near the sea but have somewhere that I can go and 'visit', as I get bored sunbathing. Recently came back from Majorca and that was perfect as could go into Palma for a wander when I fancied, so somewhere like that. Basically sea and sightseeing!

Only place that is springing to mind is Croatia.

Lisbon defo up there.
Been to Barcelona quite a few times now.
South of France would've been near top but can't due to current COVID-ness.
Sicily no direct flights but would love to go there.

Just found dirt cheap flights to Cadiz though!

I've not been to Cadiz but sure it would be great. Valencia fits the bill perfectly.

Malaga and Cadiz are both great - beaches, lots of history, museums, galleries, lots of hotels with pools. Malaga is also close to the mountains. Lisbon was good, too - I've had solo holidays in all of them. Barcelona was good, but very busy. I mean, they can all be busy, but Barca I found worse.

Montenegro looks amazing! Loving looking up all the suggestions. Think Valencia is the front runner. Now trying to decide if I should stay at the beach and travel into the city, or stay in the city and travel to the beach.

I think Kotor in Montenegro is the most beautiful place I’ve been to. I went there on a cruise.

Oh I'd like to do this too OP. I was thinking about Iceland actually, although I appreciate there's no beach (I also get bored of sunbathing).

Lisbon is lovely, but again no beach. I'd like to go to Grenada - is that near Malaga airport?!

I'm going to follow this thread closely!

(Dubrovnik is lovely, but not sure of it's covid status...).

My Mum and I stayed in a gorgeous youth hostel near the old town and it wasn't too far to the beach. Also the BEST churros cafe in Spain is in Valencia...and they are delicious!

If your thinking of Cadiz, go. Fabulous beaches. The sea is fresher and often stronger than the Med. revitalising. Great market in town. The fish market is amazing.
