Majorca or not next week

Hi there,

We have both been double vaccinated. We have a 10 and 6 year old and due to fly out on the 28th for one week.

I have read that the Balearics will probably turn ambler plus and add on a 10-day quarantine. Does anyone know if that’s correct or not. I really am struggling to find the correct guidance!

We also have been fairly relaxed about going (excited actually) but we’re now starting to think with young children, is the hassle really worth it?

Alternatives of paying ££££ for terrible UK accommodations mean that we will not be going anywhere if we don’t go.

Has anyone been the last week or so with children? How did it go?

Thanks everyone 👍👍👍

I came back from there yesterday. It's all fairly normal there. (And much safer than the UK )

Remmy123 · 09/08/2021 11:10

@thenightsky my airline does yes. I meant I am taking our own lateral flow from home to do before the return test.

rookiemere · 09/08/2021 11:10

Well good luck with finding a villa to rent with a positive Covid test @Remmy123 . Also remember that you all need to have negative tests to come home, so not sure how long your stay would be if a subsequent member of your party tests positive.

Look I hope nobody ends up in that position, but I do find this - oh we won't end up in a quarantine hotel view - quite bizarre. It's the reason we didn't go - if you test positive abroad all bets are off.

Which airlines accept lft?

Newbornandupwards · 09/08/2021 11:18

Caligal

Just the whole thing really, not sure exactly what we need to do and so much varying info out there. We're double vaxxed and have our NHS app to prove it. Do we take a PCR test when we're out there? Two days after we arrive or two days before we leave? Sorry, being dim!

Remmy123 · 09/08/2021 11:18

@rookiemere we will be fine but thanks for uou ur concern. Can't wait to get there now!

Remmy123 · 09/08/2021 11:19

Antegin tests I meant

Pissinthepottyplease · 09/08/2021 12:33

Amber plus means isolating at home.

Mexico turned from amber to red recently and for package holiday the holiday companies scrambled lots of flights to bring people back before the new red guidance.

We are flying to Majorca on the 22nd, 4 days before the next travel announcement which Grant Shapps says means people aren’t looking for their shoulder- short on logical there. I think I feel much better when we get the 26th announcement.

Amboseli · 09/08/2021 12:42

We went mid July. I can understand the worry about someone testing positive whilst out there.

However I think it's very unlikely. We spent all our time outdoors. There was plenty of space to distance around the pool and the beach. Sunbeds always available whatever time of day.

We didn't mix with other guests. Meals all outside. Masks in hotel reception, 100% compliance.

So when we had to do our test to return I knew we would be negative and we were.

This is what puts me off going away. Its just too risky. I'd spend the whole holiday freaking out about catching covid instead of relaxing and enjoying it.
Tootle10 · 09/08/2021 13:56

We're due to go to Majorca on Friday - does anyone know if you fill in one Spanish passenger locator form for the whole family (me, DH and two kids) or do we have to all do individual ones? Can't find a clear answer online!

uktrippin · 09/08/2021 14:09

"I am going Friday and will do a lateral flow before returning home - if positive we will change flights snd find a villa for 10 days to isolate in."

And if someone then tests positive on day 5 and another on day 10?

Doesn't sound very well thought out and you don't seem to understand the testing requirements fully. I'd look over it again if I were you but good luck

Amboseli · 09/08/2021 15:03

@Tootle10 yes you can fill in one form for the whole family, there's an option to add people once you've filled in one person.

Tootle10 · 09/08/2021 15:06

@Amboseli Brillliant, thank you. I'm so looking forward to a holiday but all the organisation before we go is a bit of a stress!

Remmy123 · 09/08/2021 15:17

@uktrippin then I'll spend a month in Spain!! Perfect x

uktrippin · 09/08/2021 15:46

As I said, good luck with that

Planesandflying · 10/08/2021 16:41

Please can someone tell me whereabouts you find the form to fill in before you go? Many thanks in advance x

Amboseli · 10/08/2021 20:06

www.spth.gob.es/

Planesandflying · 10/08/2021 21:12

Many thanks! x

Ppf35 · 10/08/2021 21:32

I know you can keep yourselves to yourselves when you’re there, eat outside etc… but you’ll be on a plane to get there Confused

Planesandflying · 11/08/2021 17:39

Ppf35 full hazmat innit

Think the air cleaning on a plane is pretty superior

Ppf35 · 11/08/2021 19:33

And before when you’re in the airport then wedged in next to people on the plane? No ta, good luck!

Planesandflying · 11/08/2021 19:49

Ppf35

Why come onto a chat helping people who want to go on holiday with your insightful witticisms? Hmm

You know it's not mandatory to go, right? 🤣
IsabellesMissingSock · 11/08/2021 20:07

@veverita

Which airlines accept lft?
As far as I'm aware they all do. BA for a while seemed to be insisting on a PCR test but they have changed that now.
