Due to holiday on Greek Island in 2 weeks. Really anxiety inducing, anyone in the area boat or can offer reassurance?

Just got back from Rhodes. Very straightforward airport both sides. On arrival in Rhodes last week they tested the lead passenger on each plf. the trip was worth every penny. So relaxing, sad to be back

We fly home tomorrow. Just done our return lateral flows and had the results back - all negative, phew! I've now also done the PLF for me plus kids. It asked me for my day 2 test ref but not the kids' - do they actually need to do the tests?? Or will we get asked for proof they have got tests later on?

Bichette · 19/08/2021 15:09

@Wincher
How did you do your LFTs? Local clinic/pharmacy or did you take them with you? If the latter, how do you get your results?

SapphosRock · 19/08/2021 16:38

Just flew back from Heraklion. It wasn't too bad at Crete, perhaps 45 minutes queuing for BA and there was definitely air con.

Heathrow is another matter. Been queuing at UK border control for over an hour. It's so busy and moving at a snails pace, a complete shambles.

We booked at a local clinic. It was just a swab up the nose, done by the nurse. Got the results (as pdfs attached to an email) in two hours. Cost 20€ each.

Bichette · 19/08/2021 17:02

Thank you. I think that's what we'll do. I have found a clinic in Kassiopi

brizzlewizzle · 19/08/2021 18:13

Arrrghhhhh

My 10 year old and her older sister just decided to test herself for covid - with the £40 day 2 test 😭 We haven't even left the country yet

whatagloriousthingtobe · 19/08/2021 19:56

@brizzlewizzle oh no ! You still in the uk?

brizzlewizzle · 19/08/2021 20:04

Yes! Although have realised it's the rapid antigen test that we need to take with us that she has used! Anyone have any idea if I can buy one at the airport?

whatagloriousthingtobe · 19/08/2021 20:27

@brizzlewizzle is that the one you need to take to get your fit to fly certificate to get back into the uk ? Depending where you're going if it's not really remote or something I think it would be cheaper to get it done in a local pharmacy. That's what we plan to do anyways! When are you flying ?

Saturday - yes, good idea re local pharmacy - will do that! Thanks

We made it! All very smooth from a Covid point of view - didn't see any evidence of testing at Corfu and our passenger locator forms were just given a very quick glance.

Landed at 12:30 and were in our hire car and on our way to the villa by1pm.

We were delayed at Gatwick due to the pilot not turning up but once a replacement was called in from his day off we got on our way.

TeenTitan007 · 20/08/2021 17:38

@AngelsWithSilverWings - that's brilliant! I hope ours is smooth this weekend.

iwantavuvezela · 20/08/2021 19:32

Arrived home today after two weeks of glorious Greek island holiday - f
Yes no back was super easy - did our test on island (it seems some of the ports will do these for free and print off fit to fly certificate or local clinics charge 20 euros each). Filled out PLF for UK, I was lead passenger so only had to fill in my day 2 test. At Skiathos, they only asked for Covid test, then breezed through passport control in London, no one asked to see anything further.
I had taken some LFT’s with me and we all tested the day before we went for our tests to prevent any surprises!
Feel much more able to travel if need to do in future, glad I have for my head around the tests and procedures.

Hope everything goes well for everyone else who is travelling ....

Yes, we went to Corfumedica in Kassiopi. Had to wait an hour past the appointment time as there was quite a queue. One party either hadn’t filled in the form in advance or couldn’t access it on their phones and it took them about 20 minutes to register! But it was very smooth for us, we were in and out with three of us tested in about 10 minutes total. Results came back in two hours
Wincher · 21/08/2021 08:30

We got home yesterday - once again, a really smooth journey! Waited about 1.5 hours in check in queue at airport so once we’d done that it was straight to boarding. Then at Heathrow the queue for border control looked long but then they suddenly started diverting families with under 12s to a bit with no queues! Only waited about 10 minutes total. They didn’t ask to see our PLFs at the border but I assume they checked against our passport numbers. The border guard commented on the road we live on (which obviously isn’t listed in our passports) as he went to the school at the end of the road!
Still didn’t need to enter the kids’ day 2 test reference numbers anywhere. I guess they still need to do them?! If not the in laws could have the test kits!

Wincher · 21/08/2021 08:31

Oh and nowhere on either journey were we asked to show proof of vaccination - both PLFs just asked if we were fully vaccinated!

Adelphia1977 · 21/08/2021 11:40

Can anyone remind me WHEN to do the fit to fly tests to fly home? 48 or 72 hours before?

TeenTitan007 · 21/08/2021 14:03

If PCR then within 72 hours prior to arrival
If Rapid antigen then within 48 hours prior to arrival

Adelphia1977 · 21/08/2021 15:43

Ermmm....the one to fly home to the UK? I thought it had to be a PCR booked via hotel or rep? I've got LFTs with me.

Delatron · 21/08/2021 16:00

It can be LFT from Greece. (Unless this has changed). So you need the fit to fly from that.
Government now ‘advise’ PCR from Spain but that’s just advice.

TeenTitan007 · 21/08/2021 20:21

@Adelphia1977 - NHS LFTs won't do. It's only the rapid antigens that can get you a fit to fly cert. or PCR with the same cert.

towdenbursgi · 22/08/2021 11:00

Do we still need to book day 2 pcr tests for everyone returning to UK? Have booked fit to fly in Greece but not sure about the rest. Anyone who has just returned got any advice?
