Just checked us in for our holiday to Greece next Sunday (25th) and realised son's passport is a few days shy of 6 months remaining (for our return flight). Do I need to try and get him an emergency passport? I asked an immigration lawyer at the firm I work and she thought he'd be fine but I'm worried.

Entry requirements says 6 month validity is needed

tanstaafl · 15/07/2021 10:55

If Greece is part of the Schengen Zone, the legal requirement is 3 months from the day you leave the zone.

This exact subject was covered by Simon Calder in an article in Saturdays Weekend I newspaper.

You need to look at the Greek govt information for entry.

Geamhradh · 15/07/2021 10:58

The information on both gov.uk and Greek govt says at least 6 months.

tanstaafl · 15/07/2021 10:58

Should say though, the article was because a family were turned down to travel by Jet2 to Ibiza because they said the UK govt said you need 6 months.

Ring the airline OP

Seems pretty clear about the 6 month requirement here:

Yes Simon Calder says the Govt is wrong! and the airlines of course follow Govt advice.

Jet2 will use 3months from now (according to the article)

Jet2holidays have updated their website to say 3 months acceptable thank god. I was sure he had longer on it 😱
