Hi. Looking for information on things to do near Fakenham, Norfolk. We will be on holiday there in July. Kids are 14 and 11. We would like to ride, go to the beach, have a pub lunch, etc. Where do you recommend to do those things and what else would be good to do in the area? Thanks

Oh, if you like cycling, Blickling Hall will hire out cycles to use on their trails.

Holkam Hall is a great day out. You can park all day for £4.
See their website for set activities.
Take a picnic and chairs to keep the cost down but hire the bikes then you can cycle all round and to the beach (if you drove you may not get a spot and you will have to pay again).
Beach is fantastic, idyllic even and there is a cafe there. Also lots of walks and cycle paths from there towards Wells or Brancaster.

I would recommend Holkham Hall. Holkham beach & woods are fab.

All day for £5?? I've been getting ripped off paying £9 to park on Lady Anne's Drive. The beach is great, though.

Also consider Castle Acre ruins, Baconsthorpe ruins, Holt Country Park, Felbrigg grounds.

They're a bit grim but there's bowling and a small cinema in Fakenham if raining.

Oh and get to Holkham early. In summer hols it is packed.

We are in Norwich hopefully for a week soon so picking up some tips as we seem to do the same old things. Sherringham is lovely but gets very busy.
Hope you have a lovely holiday

At burnham overy staithe you can take the ferry at high tide to scolt head island (beach/ nature reserve). It's possible to wade back at low tide but it is tricky if you are not familiar with it. Or just walk a couple of miles along the sea wall to the east beach instead.

Thanks elevenses😀

Thanks fruit. Wading back at high tide is probably more than I am up for - I think I’ll take the east beach option 😂
