Stressing about travel abroad!!

First world problem right here!!

So is anyone else stressing about travel?!

My holiday abroad is booked, both of us have been vaccinated in time… but what I’m stressing about is either Test & Trace contacting one of us (so we’ll have to isolate, missing our departure), or one of us testing positive on our pre-departure tests!! Arghhh!!

There’s DP, DS (age 4) and me. Im plotting how we can keep ourselves to ourselves in the two weeks prior to going, but it’s giving me a headache 😂

Am I over thinking this or are others equally ‘worried’ about missing their holiday?! It’s not the money side (we have insurance) but everything else. Last year was so much easier. We just went!!

I know how you feel, I managed to go and have been away for a few weeks now due to come back in a week (family abroad). I got so worked up about not being able to go that I isolated for a week beforehand and took my son out of nursery as didn't want to be contacted by track and trace! Finally relaxed when I was through the gates out of the airport abroad!

You've just got to hope for the best, it's stressful though.

Delete the app - like many others including NHS staff.

I’ve not got the app, I’ve never had it and it’s not a legal requirement to isolate if it does ping you!! My concern (pre-hol) is one of us being named as a close contact to Test & Trace and getting ‘that’ call, isolating would then be a legal requirement. Hence I’m thinking we don’t have any social contact in the run up to going away… easier said than done of course what with work etc. Argh!!

Glad it’s not just me Glitterazi!! With cases on the rise and bloody ‘freedom day’ round the corner, I’m starting to think it’s the only way.

I've just come across this thread. How was it all when you travelled? I'm due to go in the next two weeks and having the same stresses. I feel like I'm on the urge of cancelling.

We went to Majorca mid July. I was really stressed out beforehand. But it was absolutely fine.

We booked with TUI, definitely worth it for peace of mind and included covid insurance although we also took out separate insurance.

We did try and keep the teens at home as much as possible beforehand but DD was working so didn't actually manage it. But both teens negative before departure.

Felt very safe out there, hotel not full, beaches with plenty of space.

There was no chance we had caught it out there so wasn't worried about test to return. Day 2 test was neg and seems like nobody on the flight tested pos on day 2 which I was worried about so no call from T&T.

It was so so worth it, weather was gorgeous, we were able to totally relax and forget the pandemic for 10 days. I feel I have renewed strength to make it through whatever happens this winter!

Currently in France at the mo and having a marvellous time. It helped that we didn’t need to produce a negative test to get into France (Macron dropped that requirement for those who are double vaccinated). We did largely stay away from busy places and socialising prior to travel to avoid being contacted by test and trace (never had the app).

The ferry was almost empty coming out. We’ve hardly seen any British number plates out here.

I was slightly stressed beforehand, but that was over the uncertainty of France being Amber or Amber Plus. In the end though we just thought sod it, let’s go.
