Majorca going amber
Amboseli · 05/07/2021 16:16
Just been reading about Majorca possibly going amber.
Does anyone know anything about when the no quarantine for double vaccinated might come in?
I find it ridiculous that they're even considering Majorca turning amber given their infection rates compared to our. Approx 300 vs 30,000.
It would make much more sense for Majorca to ban based on above figures and their lower vaccination rate.
But then this government hasn't made any logical decisions since this all started.

Where did you see this? I have been looking at Balearic holidays for later this month!

@Jabbinell we're booked to go to Majorca on 17 July so am keeping a close eye on this.
We're able to isolate but I do resent the cost of testing. We're with TUI and they offer heavily subsided testing packages but not for test to release.
We're back on 27 July, and I've heard various dates for the amber no isolation. 19th and 26 July would be fantastic. I've also heard 2 August which is when we'd be able to end quarantine after test to release.
So complicated! And potentially expensive.

Have you also heard about the recent test changes ?? I paid £60 for a fit to fly test then just had to pay another £90 for a fit to fly test as the rules changed !!!
I just don't want to go away with it all if I'm honest

Can I ask what you mean?
Jabbinell · 05/07/2021 17:29
Thanks @rookiemere
@Tal45 id imagine they paid for an antigen test but a pcr was then needed?
Amboseli · 05/07/2021 17:32
@usernameXYZ no I haven't heard anything. I know some rules came in on 2 July by Spain.
Fit to fly on departure or double jab certificate.
I think prior to that there were no tests etc required to go to Spain.

Nothing has changed as far as I can tell from that article, not since the last announcement. The Balearics were always on the watchlist, they haven't just gone on there.
Article is vintage click-bait.

@usernameXYZ what changes? Have just booked all our tests last week and haven't heard anything....
usernameXYZ · 05/07/2021 18:57
@Nootkah Spain initially required a test 72 hours before that you drop in a store like. Lateral flow and the forms filling in. I booked this then just rang TUI to check it was all still ok (lucky me) but Spain then changed their requirements to 48 hours before by a clinician and the forms to be filled in to enter the country !! So the original test for the 72 hours won't be accepted

@usernameXYZ
Ah yes. I have had exactly the same thing. I also rang to check, they told me they couldn't accept it in store. Have booked with ExpressTest for the 48 hour one. We are (hopefully) also going to Duinrell in The Netherlands in October, so I can save my son's chronomics PCR fit to fly for then if they wont refund me.
