I am thinking of a 3 day solo break in Mallorca but haven't been since my 18-30 Magaluf days!

Where would be good to base myself for the weekend? I'd like to visit Palma so somewhere with easy transport to there but not too isolated. I've heard of Alcudia and Pollensa in the north but are they more for families?

Hotels in the south are coming in pretty cheap and near the airport would be handy but loads of reviews say the area isn't the best and one reviewer said it was like being in Germany! I can only sunbathe for so long before going for a wander.

Soller or Port de Soller might suit you, if you fancy doing some walking, even just from Soller to a village like Fornalutx. It might feel a bit remote for what you have in mind, however.

Pollensa in the north is a lovely old town and a great base, but you probably wouldn't go in and out of Palma from there. Not only for families at all, though the beach (Puerto Pollensa) is more familified.

Could you stay in Palma itself? I have never done that, but I've heard lots of people recommend it for weekend breaks without children.

I also particularly like the south-east corner a lot but not that near Palma and you will need a car, I think.

I don't know the areas near Palma (south west) at all...

Have a great trip!

Snap, I came on to let you in on the secret gem that is Fornalutx. Supposedly the prettiest village in Spain, sooo very lovely, with amazing walks all around, including in to Soller. If you hire a car you can easily drive to Deia which is also gorgeous. In fact, any driving from Fornalutx is quite stunning.
Enjoy!

Palma itself, it even has a beach. Or Port D'Andratx is gorgeous and not too far from the airport. I personally hate Alcudia, it's very British. Porto Cristo is a nice little resort but it's quite far from the airport. Deia and Soller are beautiful but I might feel less comfortable there alone as a base but great for a day trip.

I love palma, and I would just stay there in the old town.

I visited 6yrs ago and loved doing the small track railway from Palma to Soller. The Ferrocarril de Sóller. I was staying near the port in Palma, but thought Soller would be lovely for a future holiday. I can't recommend a specific place, but did enjoy the train for a day out and the scenery. It can also be done from Soller to Palma.

For 3 days. I'd stay in Palma. The old town is really pretty and you can get the (hideously expensive) tram to Soller but stay on until you get to Port de Soller.

Fornalutx is pretty but for 3 days I wouldn't stay there. You can't park in Deia anymore.

That said, what do you like to do? History, beaches, food, walking, swimming, cycling?

I would stay in palma itself too. Hotel by marina with a pool. Short walk into town. Plenty to do. As a single you would fit in way more then in a family resort.

Old town Alcudia is gorgeous, very Spanish, walled, foodie, perfect for a few days. Think you’d be bored stiff in Port de Soller. Palma is def a good shout though, but don’t rule out old Alcudia

Thanks all, think I'll plump for near Palma. I like beaches, history, walking, eating (too much).

I would stay in Palma for a 3 day trip (although cala d'Or is one my favourite places for the beaches).
Am so envious, I'd planned a solo 3 night stay in Palma last year when ds was meant to be away with his football team, all cancelled Sad

Do you want me to see if I can find the name of the hotel we stayed in? Really central with big rooms with a private terrace and a really lovely roof bar.

You can get the bus from the airport right there. I think the bus is free
