Active family holiday ideas?

I thought of cycling holidays. Any other suggestions? Dc like being active all the time - I do also. Not much of a sit-by-the-pool type!

Something adventurous?

Anywhere in the Europe - planning for next summer (with insurance!).

Morzine or any of the ski resorts in the Alps are great for active summer holidays and bonus is its their low season and loads of chalets! They use the ski lifts for mountain biking, or you can just take the lift up and walk down, there are open air swimming pools and lifeguarded lakes for swimming.

PGL? Maybe not quite what you're looking for though.

I'm also looking for something similar but have a 6yo to cater for; most activities seem to be 8+.

Neilson are very good but can be expensive in school holidays

How old are they? We were supposed to go to Club La Santa at Easter which is a sports resort so multiple 50m pools, 150 odd sports, free road bike hire, and all sorts. But you are talking really active there which suits us

We had a fabulous holiday in Slovenia a couple of years ago. A few nights in Ljubljana sightseeing and visited the Postojna Caves and Predjama Castle then drove to Kranjska Gora (a ski resort) and did some hiking. The area around Lake Jasna is stunning. We then finished off with a few nights in Bled. The weather was fab, scenery awe inspiring and a very active holiday. The toboggan run from the top of the mountain in Kranjska Gora was a highlight for my 8 year old!

Travelling around was exceptionally easy by car. Straightforward and quiet road system. Bikes galore in Ljubljana.

Slovenia or Montenegro - both are great for active types!

Mark Warner, there are all day long activities. My DC learnt to waterski and windsurf and they did sailing, kayaking, tennis and other activities.

Neilsons beach resort holidays are amazing! We hardly saw the kids they enjoyed the kids club so much so there's time for adults to relax by the pool if they want, or do their own activities.

How old are they? If over 10 you could do a scuba diving holiday - do the course to learn to dive then have a few days out diving. You can get some decent diving in Europe or better somewhere like Egypt if you don’t mind going a little further away.

I second the Alps - loads to do. You can hire bikes, do assault courses, hike, go up in the cable car.

We once stayed in Alpe D'Huez which was a little resorty but had lots going on, including golf, horse riding and via ferrata.

Sailing holidays are really fun. Dc can learn to sail, but also there's swimming, diving, caves, paddleboarding and you're somewhere different every day.
