Travel insurance query - annual policies

Hello,

I don't know if anyone's been in this circumstance... I get an annual travel policy via work which runs 1 Jan - 31 Dec.

I booked a holiday in 2019 for 2020 which was cancelled. Our villa owner kindly moved the booking to this year. This year's flights have been cancelled and the country has now gone to Amber.

I contacted the insurance provider about this year's policy who said nothing related to Covid-19 is covered, however do I have any claim from the provider of my 2019 policy (ie the policy valid when I made the booking when Covid wasn't a thing?) or does their liability expire when the policy expires...?

You’ll only be covered for trips taken in the period the policy was active. Or for cancellation expenses during that period. So if you moved the trip to this year but didn’t renew the insurance you won’t be covered for anything related to this years holiday being cancelled. And even if you had renewed you still might not have been covered due to the changes for covering Covid now it’s a known event.
