Kefalonia with Tweens

We 'did' Kefalonia a few times pre-kids and loved it but where always in the North near Fiskardo. Now with 2 tweens and an 8 yo I'm thinking that the we might need some more sandy beaches with things to do.

Can anyone recommend somewhere near decent sized sandy beaches and ideally a resort we could stay in (a villa) and walk to tavernas etc?

Ionian Sea Villas because it has an aqua park.

Thanks! Looks nice but I can't see anything there about villas, just hotel rooms which don't really work for us. Do they have separate villas?

We stayed in a villa near Lourdas beach last year and it was a great location for us - nice beach, plenty of other good beaches within a short drive and easy to walk into town for a selection of tavernas. Quite small and sleepy - I think there were watersports there too though we didn’t use them (younger dc). If you want more lively, Trapezaki is nearby and seems similar but a bit larger. Or look at Skala. Both have lots of villas.

Just bumping this as we are off to Kefalonia this Summer, and also thinking we may need more than just beaches! sniffydog do you have any recommendations from your stay? Can you visit the waterpark as a guest even if not staying at that resort? Any other suggestions gratefully received!
