Money back if holiday country goes to red?

So if you’ve booked a holiday which has now gone to Amber, clearly you won’t get money back as you can still travel and do the quarantine. But what about if the country goes into red? Would hotels and flights be expected to pay back what you’ve paid? (I’m talking about Portugal)

Totally depends on the terms and conditions you agreed to when you booked. You have more protection if you booked a package holiday. For flights, if they are running and you haven’t bought a flexible ticket then you may well lose the lot.
