Anyone else still hopeful for overseas this summer

We are booked to go to Greece for the last 2 weeks of July. I'm sort of resigned it won't happen but the optimistic part of my brain is telling me there could be significant additions to the green list or the system could be overhauled for the main holiday season.

Anyone else doing this sort of wishful thinking?

@zefferana our friends did that last week (test to release) but we didn;t realise that they'd need to wait for results too - they came 48 hrs later!

@FinallyFluid that's a beautiful part of the world. We have visited Nerja on the coast very near there many times. It makes me sad that we won't get there this year.

I just hope next year will be normal, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

Literally waiting for the next review!

Yep we're booked for 2nd July - keeping everything crossed. Hate not being able to plan anything or know for definite whether we will get away.

We're booked for 3rd July to Greece but we are going anyway (short of it being red which it wouldn't be because cases are coming down well)

I have my insurance and testing package all ready to go - I will buy them all next weekend. We are both double jabbed and have our vaccine certificates on our phones. Just hoping that Greece follow Spain and France's example and ditch the wearing of masks outside before we head over there. If not, we'll have to amend our planned activities a bit - not climbing up mountains in 30+ degrees with a mask on!

We have been going for the last 17 years, before that we never ever went back to the same place twice, then Nerja got under our skin.

We're due to going Greece on the 1st.
I'm worried Jet2 will cancel flights.

We're double jabbed too.

Where do you stay ?

We did fifteen years in a apartment in Alamar 2 (right at the top, 42 steps ask me how I know. Grin He then sold it (Divorce we think because no one in their right mind would sell it)

We then did two years in Miramar, which is at the top of Calle Ladera a bit of an uphill schlep (where isn't in Burriana Grin)

We have become friends with Diana who owns and runs Paradise Cocktail bar, I bring loads of books, read them and then leave them for her on the last night and in return we get a few cocktails on the house.

When we first went there were about three Merenderos on the beach and that was it, down at the Rincon was deserted and young people used to camp down there, now it is full of Balinese beds.

Did you use the sunbeds on Play Burriana ? if so you will know Paco, sadly he lost his life to Covid about two weeks ago. Actually you would know Paco even if you didn't use the beds, he was short, very Spanish looking and always had a Barcelona FC shirt on.

There is a We love Nerja FB page and it is great for getting your Nerja fix.

We've stayed all over the place but like the area down Calle Malaga best - we rent private apartments usually. We mainly use Playa El Salon but I did know of Paco and heard he had passed away. I'm on a similar FB group. Ahhhh I miss it!! My husband proposed there. Happy days!

We are booked to go to Corfu on the 8th July. Can't wait. We have worked out the process based on a a "worst case" scenario of it still being Amber. I just want to a change of scenery!

We are booked for Crete early August - two double jabbed adults and two unvaccinated teens.

I'm also trying to book a 5 nighter with a friend to either Majorca or Menorca around 7 July.

Can I check my understanding if current test requirements?

Crete is amber but may turn green before 1 August. Quarantine for double jabbed may relax before return on 15 Aug. Gvmt undecided re what will happen with unvaccinated children. So all still up in the air.

Majorca or Menorca on 7 July don't require a PCR test for entry, and currently on UK green watch list so tests required to get back into UK only - which are

1 within three days of return - so need to find a provider in Majorca. Do we just rock up or are people prebooking?
1 two days after return, which vary hugely in cost.

Do I have all that correct and have I missed anything for the Majorca/Menorca trip?

Arabella.. we are also hoping to get to Crete early August with 2 unvaccinated teens! If it remains Amber they will need a PCR pre departure. But maybe it will be green by then!Smile

Angela Merkel calling for all EU countries to quarantine UK visitors Sad Macron seems to be agreeing (although using deliberately vague language)

I’m not feeling super hopeful at the moment
