Quite tempted to do some island hopping. Who has done this? What was it like? How did you find a company to go with?
Thanks!

Not quite that but I’ve stayed on Kolocep and then visited all the Elaphati island by a small ferry for different days trips and then took a ferry to Dubrovnik on another day. I also kayaked all round the island (it’s tiny).
I can’t see why you couldn’t arrange island hopping yourself by looking up the ferry timetables.

I did years ago. On a boat for around 30 people. We had a double cabin and private bathroom. Boat route was Split to Dubrovnik or vice versa. We stopped at different places for swimming during the day and different islands each night. Breakfast and lunch on the boat, dinner at local restaurants.

You can also hire boats if you enjoy sailing yourself.

I did this years ago. Didn’t have a plan! Arrived at Split and went to the ferry port, picked up ferry to Brac. There were people meeting the boat with ‘sobe’ (rooms ) signs and we then chatted and ascertained price and location. They all spoke excellent English; my partner And I were in our twenties and brave!
We stayed three nights in Supertar on Brac, before moving onto Hvar, Korcula and Dubrovnik before taking the train back to Split.
This was 2002, cheap flights about 100 return and we never spent more than 20 GBP per night, this was at least for a room, en suite and a fridge.
In Korcula, which was my favourite, we had a studio apartment with king size bed, kitchen and balcony with sea view for 8 GBP a night.
It was an amazing holiday; suspect it wouldn’t be so cheap now!!

Oh most beaches rocky, but amazing Sandy beach on Korcula, think it was called lumbarda or something. Food was typical Mediterranean- good fresh fish, salads, grilled meats etc, and cheap. Great wine too!

We did similar @lots33 but we started in Dubrovnik and then got ferry's up the coast. Dubrovnik was gorgeous and stayed in a sobe there where the owner was showing us bullet holes from the war.
Loved korcula but in brac we rented this gorgeous granny flat with a garden and terrace ended up staying on there. Best gyros pittas I have ever taste!d
Got a ferry to Italy then and travelled down that coast. The difference in price was shocking!
Croatia is so stunning and the people we met were amazing.

I have been to Croatia. Flew in and out of split and then travelled by bus and ferry. The ferry timetables were quite restrictive though

It has since been my dream to return on a sailing holiday. A big huge yacht. In my dreams anyway

flaminjo · 21/05/2021 20:32

As PP have said, split to Dubrovnik by bus then ferry to korcula, ferry to hvar and ferry back to split

We booked via booking.com and air bnb and then did the bus ferry once there

We went to Croatia 18 years ago. Started in Dubrovnik then boat to Korcula, Hvar, Brac, Split - couple of nights in sobe on each island. Then bus from Split back to Dubrovnik. Great holiday - beautiful islands, delicious food and great accommodation.

MaeveTheRave1 · 25/05/2021 16:50

Also nothing booked before we went (bar the first couple of nights in Dubrovnik) - made it up as we went along.

fourlegstwolegs · 28/06/2021 21:24

Yes we did last summer. Rented a sailing boat with the family and sailed around for a week. It was lovely and I highly recommend it.

.

FizzyPink · 28/06/2021 21:32

@fourlegstwolegs what company did you book through please? And are you able to give a rough idea of the cost?

blackteaplease · 28/06/2021 21:32

Years ago when DH and I were young, we went from Dubrovnik to korcula and back on the local ferry service.

Charter company was: [email protected]
The boat was abour $2800 euros but we did get a last min deal, should have been $4000

FizzyPink · 28/06/2021 22:06

That’s great @fourlegstwolegs thank you! A relative was keen to do a big family cruise for a few big birthdays next year but I know some people are slightly reluctant now so this could be a good alternative
