Anyone done a Villa Holiday in Thailand?

Went to Thailand many years ago and loved it and always vowed to take the kids one day. Next summer they will have finished A levels (DC1) & GCSES (DC2) so possibly last chance for a big family holiday.

I think we'd be limited to Koh Samui due to the time of year. A quick Google has revealed nice villas at reasonable prices (compared to Europe anyway). Would prefer villa vs hotel.

Anyone done this? Any tips, pitfalls, good places to look etc?

Tia.

A few years ago now (and we were living closer to Thailand so closer flight than from the Uk) but we have done several Villa holidays in Koh Samui. Amazing villas, and best bit was that many can arrange a chef/housekeeper to make Thai or other meals for you. Awesome food and they just asked the day before which meals you'd like and then shopped and charged for the ingredients.
We stayed in villas that were a fair way out of town but the housekeeper would arrange a taxi to get to restaurants/beach etc though we did just spend a lot of time at 'home' enjoying pool.
