Manchester MNetters - please help me with organising a (non-tacky!) hen do

Friend has asked me to help organise her hen do in Manchester at end of June next year. We will probably go up for just one night, get there early Sat morning, go home Sun afternoon.

So I need a central hotel - have looked online but not really sure how central they are. Would like reasonable but comfortable.

Need a nice place to eat at tea-time. Then
have heard about the bar that's really high up somewhere overlooking city (can't remember name) for cocktails, then thought we'd go to Canal street for cabaret club or something. We won't be doing the fairy wings and L signs but she said she'd like a theme so I wondered about Wags and Hens? so everyone can get dressed up in their bling and not look too tacky.

Can anyone help with names of places and suggestions for places to go?

the huge tall hotel is the hilton and if you are looking for caberet then apparently the bird cage is the place to go

the midland hotel is central as is the palace hotel
I haven't stayed at any of these nor been to the bird cage btw!

I'd got to El Rincon for food. Oh. Alberts' Shed is meant to be good as well. And that is near the Hilton (is it called Cloud bar or something? [What's Going Out? emoticon])

There are then lots of bars in the Castlefield area, where you'd be near.

Oh my life The Birdcage looks fantastic!
Have found out the high rise bar is Cloud 23 and proper up its own arse by the reviews! Might give that one a miss...
Thanks very much, all those links are fab.
Anyone else?
