There are loads. Which island? How old are your children? Are you thinking mid range, luxury or budget?

I can only comment on Gran Canaria, but the Lopesan hotels in Meloneras are fantastic and each one of the three there would suit different budgets. Only Lopesan Ville del Conde (the most 'luxurious') is sea front - though not beach front as there is a sea front front promenade which stretches for a couple of miles and leads to the beach about five mins walk away. It isn't a traditional 'beach' destination as tourists in the area tend to spend a lot of time around the pools at their hotels, as these tend to be extensive with lots of activities, and then maybe go to the beach to play in the sand dunes or for lunch. The entire area is very beautiful though, great shops and restaurants around (with all inclusive options at the hotel) and lots of kids clubs/activities. Lopesan Boabab is the best value of the three hotels, we have found amazing deals there in the past.

We have stayed at the Gran Castillo in Lanzarote - was great. We did our own flights and hired a car. We had a week self catering in the north of the island and then drove down and had a week all inclusive there. It's a small island so going from north to south doesn't take long and the roads are very quiet.

I’d definitely recommend Hovima La Pinta in Tenerife. It’s got 2 bedroom rooms which don’t break the bank.

There are loads of beachfront hotels in Playa Blanca - many of them aimed firmly at the family market. We stayed at the Sandos Papagayo, which was lovely, but it's quite far out of the town. The Princess Yaia, the H10, plus many more are closer to town.

Princess Yaiza, that should say, and Playa Blanca is in Lanzarote.

Hi @zafferana. We have stayed at H10 Rubicon Palace before but Sandos Papagayo offering a free kids place. Can you possibly compare the two? Distance from town centre not a problem for us. thank you.

zafferana · 05/08/2021 15:54

I've only stayed at the Sandos @Ed75, so I'm afraid I can't compare, but take a good look at trip advisor reviews - that's how I usually choose hotels.

@zafferana - good plan, thank you.

Second vote for the Yaiza.. the kitchenette was really handy with little ones. Great kids club, nice pool and breakfast!
