Anyone taken a framed back-carrier on holiday - checked in or hand luggage?

Will be taking a Chicco back-carrier with us on holiday in January but I'm not sure whether we will have to check it in as luggage or will be we able to take it with us onto the plane and stick it in the overhead locker. I'm guessing the former so getting around the airport without it will be a bit of a pain. Also, what would you pack it in? A large holdall or in a big carrier bag? Any suggestions or advice truly welcome! Thank you.

We are planning the same thing . Dh is going to put dd in it ( we hope) and I am going to push buggy and then they take that off you at the gate. We think it will fit in the overhead locker. We are carrying one item of hand luggage between the 2 of us ( and dd) so if they make us count it as hand luggage we are covered. If I was to check it in I would probably pack it in bottom of the case . Going anywhere nice ??

We had to check ours in. Doesn't it have its own bag?

Thanks both - we're not planning to take a pushchair as it wouldn't be much use to us in the snow in Lapland! Hadn't thought of putting it in the bottom of the suitcase. No idea if it'd fit though - mind you we'll have enough stuff in that as it is without adding to it.
Unfortunately it didn't come with a bag and now that we've got this one, I'm reluctant to fork out on a more compact one that'd definitely go in the overhead lockers as most of the ones I've seen have been upwards of £80 and we don't really use it often enough to justify buying another one.
