Just that really. What are the best things to do with a 3-yr ole over a 3 or 4 day break in Singapore?

Would suggest visiting the Bird Park at Jurong, Singapore Zoo and the aquarium at Sentosa.

slim22 · 14/11/2007 01:19

second the above suggestions.

Actually for sentosa, you can make it a whole day as there are lots of activities + the beach ( see their website) + evening light and sound show.

google singapore kids there is a specific website with lots of "where to go" "what to do" "what's on" .....etc....

When are you coming?

hazlinh · 14/11/2007 10:01

thanks!
wasnt sure abt sentosa, cos it looked like there are a lot of things, but none of them looked terribly exciting, except maybe the cable car and the underwaterworld/aquarium thingy.

am already here for a one month attachment, dh will be bringing dd down this weekend...

The night zoo is fantastic...am sure it gets dark earlier there so you could still go.
I went with DH 6yrs ago, prekids and we always say we'd love to take our boys there.

slim22 · 14/11/2007 11:48

Oh, you here!!

Well, if she's jet lagged, then sure, the night safari.

On sentosa, suggest going to mount faber to get the cable car. When you get to sentosa, you are right next to the aquarium.
Then get the "luge" down to the beach, good fun. Right at the bottom is the beach and there is a nice relaxed beach shack for brunch called coastes. You can get loungers. The beach is pretty but the supertankers are in full view!
More fun is the cafe del mar. No problem with kids if you go early.

Another option if the weather is crap or too hot is dempsey road.
Lots of brunch options, organic cafes/delis ( Jones the grocer/cucinara my favorites) and restaurants and a great indoor play area for kids with a massive padded frame.
DD can play, DH have coffe and cake and browse internet, while you get you mani/pedi. It's called GoGo Bambini (see their website)

If you want to go out al fresco in the evening and take DD along, the Robertson quay or fullerton quay or glutton bay hawker centre by the esplanade theatre are better options than the usual Clarke quay/Boat quay which are not very child friendly.

Sunday afternoon at the east coast park is good for bikes/roller blading on the beach (all available for rent) and a great seafood hawker centre for early dinner.

I imagine you must really miss them!!!
Enjoy

Read this thread with interest as we are doing same over New Year on way back from Oz....hazlinh, are you bothering with vaccinations for Hep A and B - can't find clear advice on this without trip to Dr....

hazlinh · 16/11/2007 08:32

Hep A is mandatory where I come from (Malaysia). Hep B is highly recommended too. But I think you are only at risk of getting Hep B if you eat a lot of shellfish? cos they are prone to contamination, esp farmbred ones? I have had HEP B done in my youth, but dd hasnt yet. She doesnt eat shellfish, and hardly much fish either. And I can't remember at what age they are supposed to do Hep B. Maybe slightly older? My dd is only 3.8yr old.

But if you are concerned, best to consult your GP.

Slim,
we went to sentosa on saturday, and it was an enjoyable day out! we took the cable car, which was scary at first, but turned out to be fun after i relaxed. dd was loving it from the start! she loves cable cars. weird to see all the supertankers tho.
the beach was surprisingly nice, despite the presence of the tankers lol.
we enjoyed the dolphins at dolphin lagoon the best...
dh also took her to the science centre on friday while i was working. they spent 3-4 hrs there!! they said it was fun.
