TUI change booking policy - anyone know?

Package holiday booked for July with TUI. We want it to be cancelled but I reckon the country may end up on an amber/green list so they won’t refund us. The holiday is £5000 which is a lot for us and I don’t want it to be marred by worry about whether we’ll get to go etc. You can change the booking for free and they say if we change it to a cheaper holiday then they’ll refund the difference. I was thinking I could change it to the cheapest possible holiday for next year, (I’ve found one for £1200 total). Do you know if we could then change that closer to the time?! Or are you locked in to that holiday once you’ve changed once. I’ve been searching their website for clarity and wondered if anyone was in the same boat and has a definitive answer!
Thank you so much in advance.

We changed our original TUI booking for the second time last week. Our holiday should have been July 2020, we changed it to July 2021 and have now changed it again to July 2022. We were refunded the difference but had to pay an administrative fee of £50 per person.

I would wait OP. The tests are coming up expensive per person so even if your destination is green or Amber some people won’t want to go because it’s looking like some sort of isolation will be involved.
I’m booked for Aug but tbh I hope they cancel my booking once the update is released.

Wait for what @Bul21ia ? I’m wondering about whether you can change a booking twice?
Hersetta427 · 12/04/2021 16:46
Yes you definitely can change a booking twice- you may have to pay the admin fee of £50pp the second time though if free amendments are not offered nearer to the time of travel.
