Holiday dilemma

Ages ago I booked a cottage in the UK starting the 9th of April, we are not able to go until the 12th due to lockdown rulesnon self catered accommodation, we didn't get a refund on the 3 days we missed out but thats the way it is, I only have that week off so couldn't really book anything else.

We have been thinking about driving up on the Sunday afternoon and spending time in the town and going back to the cottage a few hours before midnight, technically breaking the rules by a few hours, would this be bad? Is it ridiculous i feel so worried about it? I haven't broken a single rule during lockdown and have not had much time off either. I just seems so odd that I put myself at risk every day at work and would be at less risk to myself or others at the cottage I'm going to be staying at

Would they let you have the keys before the 12th April?
If yes then I absolutely would be in that cottage asap.

Its in a key safe so should be all ready, I've contacted the owners to check its OK to go up late

I would but there is always the risk you could get stopped and fined although technically we can travel then I think so shouldn't be an issue , who would really know , unless surrounded by neighbours who may report as some tourist places the locals can be on the look out for breaches etc

I think I would do that as we’re allowed to travel then so the day out but is fine. If the owner will let you do it then I would do it. I’d arrive as late as possible though so you’re only breaking the rules by a couple of hours. You’ll need a good plan for the walking around the new area as time can go really slow when you don’t have a base and restaurants and cafes will be shut apart from takeaways.
