DD is at uni in Wales and had a car accident. Absolutely fine and not hurt but insurance have written the car off. I have purchased a new one to replace it. Can I drive it to drop off to her in Wales? Is it essential travel? Me and DH would take a car each and leave the new one there and drive back same day in his? Can not find clarity online... thank you

I don’t think the rules are so specific as to state whether travel is permitted in such circumstances, but I highly doubt you’d get into any trouble for doing this even if you were unlucky enough to get stopped. If you do get stopped, you just need to explain your reason for travel (circumstances for DD needing a new car and why you’re taking it to her rather than her travelling to you to get it etc).

Just go - I’m sure you’ll be fine!

I live in Wales and in the whole time we've been in lock down I haven't been stopped once. I travel every day to and from work, to other sites around North Wales and to the supermarket when I need to. I don't know of anyone who has been so I wouldn't worry about that.
