Blackpool Hotel Reccomendations

I have found myself with a spare week in the school summer holidays so have decided to take my DC (will be 6 & 1 year old at the time) to Blackpool for a few days. Haven't been since I was a child myself however I do remember there was loads to keep us busy there. Does anyone have any child friendly, good location hotel reccomendations. Everytime I think I've found something the reviews are small rooms/not baby friendly etc or there is a 'Child Supplement' to the tune of £15 per child per day on top of the price of the room ....looking at you Doric Hotel. Any pointers greatly appreciated. Thank you

It’s been 5 years or so since we went for the weekend. Stayed at the Big Blue Hotel and found it very good.

Once piece of advice, we went Thursday to Sunday. Thoroughly enjoyed Thursday and Friday but there was a big change Saturday with stag and hen parties, people drinking snd drunk very early on. The vibe changed overnight completely.

Personally I would have a good look at what you want from the holiday. As mentioned above its very different at the weekend and generally run down.
I think North Wales would be a much nicer option.
Llandudno will have a hotel to suit you but plenty of B&B Caravans etc all different types of sites.

Its a fantastic base for seeing the area as loads to see and do within 30 mins drive

Llandudno is very nice about 15 mins drive but its a regular bus route

The Conwy Valley is spectacular Bodnant Gardens, and a Go ape thing,

Try Ribby Hall for a more family based location, it's a holiday village about 10/15 minutes from Blackpool.

You can explore other bits of the area, the nearby village is lovely, Lytham and St Anne's too.

@Funf if you think Blackpool is run down you haven’t been to Rhyl! Llandudno is lovely but a very different sort of holiday . I have heard good reports about the Big Blue . The Pleasure Beach have a new hotel that looks lovely. I think it’s called the Boulevard. There is a brand new Premier Inn in the town centre more or less opposite North Pier . There is the De Vere hotel close to the zoo and Stanley Park but out of the town centre . Depending on the facilities you need look at some of the most highly rated guest houses that are often more friendly. If you are prepared to do the short drive into Blackpool look at Ribby Hall holiday village . Hope you have a good time .

Oh I have been to Rhyl thats why I never recommend it, it is slowly improving but like many Sea side places it has its own challenges, lets hope they can bring them both back in shape again as thousands of people have had great holidays in the past.
Ribby Hall was very nice when we went but it was several years ago.
I think the OP will have to check it all out and see whats best for the family.
Its all about expectations and what you want to do.

We’ve stayed at the Big Blue Hotel a couple of times. Really enjoyed it both times, kids liked the novelty of seeing the rollercoasters out of the bedroom window!

The big blue is the one I’d be looking at. Personally I’m not a fan of Blackpool though, it is run down. St Anne’s is nicer than Blackpool although still a bit run down and you can get the tram to Blackpool. Lytham is lovely but no tram line and probably not enough to do for the children for a few days.

We've always stayed at either ribby hall or the de vere hotel in the outskirts.

Ribby hall is a little holiday village on the outskirts, not a massive amount to do but you'd need to do a mon-fri or fri-mon as they don't do mid-week day stays.

The de vere hotel is about 10 minutes drive to the front but very near, pretty much opposite the zoo and Stanley park. The zoo also has a soft play attached to it. There's also a swimming pool at the hotel and the restaurant was really nice. We found a really nice pub as as well about five minutes away.

There was always plenty of parking in Blackpool centre, so never a problem and nicer really.

Well, I wouldn't go to Blackpool out of choice, but if I had to...another vote for the Big Blue.

I'm potentially looking at a night in Blackpool if our Spain holiday doesn't go ahead this year as the kids are desperate to go on the Pleasure Beach, so I'd probably book the Big Blue Hotel as they have a good offer with park tickets.

We stayed at a nice B&B 5 years ago called Rossall House & just checking on trip advisor now they've still got excellent reviews.

I've loved popping over to Blackpool over the years, it does what it says in the tin and it's all good fun ... I went for a day out a couple of years ago and it was horrific, homeless folk in every door way, and aggressive drug users all over the place - I felt scared and uncomfortable.

Ribby Hall is lovely though

There's a new Hilton there near the big blue, might be worth a look at

I would avoid! I took my kids because of fond childhood memories and realise that rose tinted glasses are a thing - it was ghastly
