Hi , my oh would like to book a long Haul holiday to Singapore /Bali , he feels it’ll be ok I on the other hand am very nervous due to the pandemic
Any thoughts please without criticism,

I think Bali is closed for tourism? When are you thinking of?
bootlebum · 21/02/2021 18:28
I reckon you'll be fine next year OP. If you do go to Bali be prepared it's extremely over developed now. I'd avoid Ubud and aim for the coast.

My oh is thinking of travelling around maybe Singapore for a couple of days then onto Bali
I’m really not keen to go this year

I’d personally book for next year. You also don’t want to be stuck with a £3500 bill at the end if they decide you need a quarantine hotel on the way back. I also had a feeling that Bali wasn’t allowing travellers but you’d need to look on the embassy site

If you go to Singapore you can also easily get a boat to some small islands around that area which are lovely

You can’t get into Singapore at the moment unless you’re a citizen or PR. Bali also has restrictions. I would definitely wait till next year.

I know you're asking about the pandemic rather than your choice of destinations, but I just want to emphasise what a PP said about Bali - the place is a mess now & not the paradise island they market it to be. There's clearly been no planning permission because there's shanty towns/houses/shops/business premises all over the place. It's one place I wouldn't go back to.

We went in 1996 and were disappointed at how much ribbon development there was along the roads even then.

As per PP, it’s been many many years if you are going to Bali then do your research on where to go as there has been a lot of over development. Steer clear of Kuta - great if you are early 20’s and want to go bar to bar and meet tanned Aussie blokes (which was pretty much what my friend and I did but wouldn’t be my idea of a good time now!). We visited Singapore on the same trip - it left me a bit cold at the time as we stayed in an area with lots of high rises and office buildings but it has an interesting history and real mix of cultures.

That should have said ‘it’s been many many years since I’ve been’!
