Does anyone have any recommendations for family friendly (a 2 yr old and a 7 yr old) in Sydney? Would quite like to stay in Northern Beaches area but open to suggestions if anyone has any !!!

'Family friendly' means different things to different people.
Would you like a place with a creche, support for the children and lots of activities?
If so, I'm not sure I can help.

However, if by that you mean somewhere easy to take the children where you can do things at your own pace, how about an apartment hotel?

They have fully furnished apartment style rooms and suits that you rent on a nightly basis like normal hotel rooms.
They have all the normal facilities of a hotel (though some don't have restaurants) but your room also includes a full kitchen and in many cases a washing machine.
They can be really useful for a relaxed stay, particularly with a young family and there are many such places in Sydney.

Maybe it's not what you had in mind, but it's
one idea.

Sorry - was unclear about "family friendly" - I really meant a hotel / apaartment where it would be easy to take kids, not necessarily with creche, babysitting etc as I know that might be tricky in a city. Thanks

Hi Sarah. Last New Year we stayed at the Parkridge Corporate Apartments. Really good central location, next to park. All mod cons and very helpful caretaker. Bus stop opposite to get to beaches and short walk to monorail/ underground. We loved the city and found it very child friendly. Great playground near Darling Harbour. Liked Bronte beach best. Think we found the apartment here www.hotel-apartments.com.au. Good luck and enjoy!

Have you thought of a home swap. There are lots of people in Australia who would love to come to Britian, and all you pay is the flights. You will have enough replies to be able to pick a family home with children of the same age , so no worries about high chairs and cots or age related toys, and quite often the car usage is included. On an adult needs front, there is a double bed in a seperate bedroom from the kids, and a washing machine for all those piles of washing that kids generate.
Try this site www.homebase-hols.com
they are a really riendly well organised site and it doesn't cost the earth to join. You can browse the listings and read the news letters and blogs without registering or paying anything to find out if it may be the 'thing' for you.
Your house/flat etc does not need to be a mansion or out of the home magazine. Just a comfy place to return to at night after a hard day being a tourist.

We are off to Oz in 3 weeks, after much research, staying at Rendezvous Stafford hotel in the Rocks. Not cheap but looks perfect with 3 kids!
