Any ideas on what to do in York this Sunday for DS2 (11 yrs) and me...pleeeease?!

DH has a meeting in York this Sunday so DS2 (he's 11) and me are tagging along for the day. We'll arrive at about 11 or 12 ish and will have until 4pm or so to amuse ourselves while DH talks about football! Can't wait as I adore York and don't get to visit as often as I'd like.

We know the town fairly well and have done Jorvik, the Railway Museum, the Castle museum, York Minster (including climbing to the top of the tower - gulp!), walking the walls etc.

I would like to go the the lovely Sunday market for a mooch around but need to keep DS2 happy as well with something that he'd enjoy. I found this on the web - has anyone been Yorkshire Museum and would you recommend it or can you give me any other ideas?

Thanks, lovely MNers!

At age 11 he will probably love the York Dungeon

and here is the touristy page for you to look at.

Enjoy

Thanks Squonk....I didn't think of the York Dungeon. You're right - just his thing with lots of blood and gore. That's a definite "maybe" for Sunday.

and if it's a while since you've done the railway museum, you could do it again and take him on the BIG big wheel.

Another good idea ...DH and me have been on the wheel but DS2 hasn't.

I checked the 5 day weather forecast and it looks like it's going to be a lovely autumn day.

For the evening crowd - any other ideas? Has anyone been to Yorkshire museum exhibition that I've linked to in my OP? DS2 is keen on history so if it's worth a visit it would be ideal.
