Don't mind where but if South some air conditioning would probably be needed as we have to go in school hols July/Aug.
Would like modern, preferably with a pool and have a reasonable budget(not more than £3,000) for 2 weeks.Toddler suitability would be a plus as ds will have just turned 2.
Have googled but am very fussy (according to dh ) and anything I like already seems to be booked even this far ahead.

Anyone been anywhere they really liked or know someone who has a lovely place they rent? Please..

This is a good site. If you specify other preferences you have by going into 'Advanced search' you'll get less results to wade through. Do you want to be close to the sea? How many bedrooms? Do you have a preference for a region?

RainingCatsandDogs · 26/10/2007 20:31

3 bedrooms .Dd would like to be by the sea (but really wants a pool mostly) so have looked at languedoc and ile de re both of which we haven't been to.
Just really want a comfortable, bright, well furnished modern villa with a pool near to somewhere we can have a walk and sit in a cafe/restaurant in the evenings.
Ile de Re looks lovely but above our budget so may go for languedoc although the long drive with a 2 year old is a negative factor.Want to drive as not that keen on flying.
Not feeling very inspired at the moment hence the original post..

We have hired some nice cottages through Welcome Cottages and Cottages 4 you, both in the Uk and in France.

Will have a look at these sites, thanks

This one looks lovely at it's available.

TeeJaye · 26/10/2007 22:59

This one's only got 2 bedrooms but it's on Ile de Re, it's withing budget and it's available

RainingCatsandDogs · 27/10/2007 00:34

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm been looking all evening also but your two are cheaper than I found.

Still debating though.Did I say I was indecisive as well as fussy

Have you tried the Gites de France website www.gites-de-france.com. Always much cheaper than UK based rentals IYSWIM, go for 3 "ears of corn" and above and you'll be fine.

TeeJaye · 27/10/2007 21:28

Look at this one on Ile de Re (16014), doesn't show availability though.

lapsedrunner · 28/10/2007 08:25

I think you can't book Gite De France for the following year until the Dec of the preceeding year IYSWIM. Phone the regional office.

lapsedrunner · 28/10/2007 09:13

Ignore my last post...you can book now...

Contacted the Gites de France but the villa is not available in August. - looked a good villa at a reasonable price.
