Which European country to visit with 24 month old ?

Hello. Lunch feb this year we went on an amazing family holiday to Thailand (me, husband and 8 month old). We booked with Tui at a resort that had everything included, private beach, half board, activities, Crèche, cooking classes, evening events etc you name it! We are wanting to go on a summer holiday next year but not sure where with a 24 month old. Where would you suggest? Or any good travel sites? We’d like to be near the beach and have kids activities...

How did you find Thailand with a baby? Especially the time difference?

Portugal and Greece are both amazing places and very child friendly Smile

Greece. The Greek people love kids. The landscape and vibe is immense. And we did Bali with a 10 month old so I know longhaul isn't an issue but so many gorgeous Greek islands a short flight away.

We've done Salzburg and the Netherlands (Delft) with a toddler and found both really good.

That's if you fancied town/city break. Both well located to get out of town. Good activities for them to do, transport is well suited and the accomodation we had was geared up for kids.

As your dc will only be 2, I think you should just look at places that you and your Dh fancy. Babies and toddlers are happy anywhere as long as they are with familiar adults and have a few favourite toys.

We took dd to China when she was 19 months old, Australia when she was 23 months and Lebanon and Syria when she was 2 and a half. She was happy to potter around and we got to visit places that we really wanted to go to.

@Csx99 do you know what.. i booked the holiday to Thailand when my boy was around 3 months. Then when he was 8 months I thought oh my god how am I going to cope on the flight, I even called tui to see if I could postpone the flight (they said no), but Hand on my heart it was THE smoothest plane journey. It was 10.5hrs direct , 13hrs return (didn’t know that till the day!) . He wasn’t crawling or walking, so he happily sat and slept on me the whole time. I was breastfeeding at the time, so when it was due his nap/sleep time I’d nurse him and cover myself using the snuz black out cover that you put on the pram! The passengers behind me said he was a trooper! He also didn’t cry during take off or touch down with the ear pressure. Regards to timing difference, I pushed his bedtime to 11pm rather than 7pm (and wake up later than usual), so he could adjust the time difference when he came back to Uk. We had jet lag for about 3 days. 100% no way I could do that flight again with him at his age right now!(18 months). It was honestly the most memorable vacation and I couldn’t have asked for a better smoother experience! 😂 (i sound like in writing a review).... thanks for the recommendation! So far Crete is a winner!

Wow @cariadlet your toddler must be amazing on long haul flights! My son wouldn’t be able to sit still for more than 10min without fussing! Wish I could do a long haul flight again but at this age it’s tricky

We love Gran Canaria, specifically Mogan. It’s got some lovely pedestrianised walks from the hotels to the the sea front so super safe for little toddlers! Has wonderful restaurants in the harbour. Weather is great, Spanish love children and there are some great deals around! Can’t wait to be back there in August 2021!

Ive just booked majorca for next summer and my DD will be 25 months. Used tui and resort looks great with pools etc and beach is close by. Im really looking forward to it. Friends went with a 3 year old to same place and they loved it

Wherever you go, ensure you have decent insurance to cover all eventualities, to include cancelling, flight delays, health cover & accidents.

We took DD to Gozo - Malta (6 months), Croatia (12 months), Ibiza (18 months), and Majorca (2) - when she was younger we did self catering, but we found the holiday villages great when she was a bit older. I took her to a Eurocamp in France when she was 4 which was brilliant too.

We went to Sorrento, Italy a month after DD turned 2. Was fab - the Italians love children, she loved eating pasta at that point so eating out was fine & all the staff loved her & talked to her.
We went to Pompeii & Herculaneum, was great for her to be able to walk around without the worry of traffic. We had an apartment with kitchen to allow us to make basic food & not worry about noise too much.
Also took DD (4) & DS (1) to Lanzarote which was also great - had a villa with pool. Lots of interesting places to visit, plus the beaches & attractions.

We do France. Brittany beach holiday, but also close to National Forest so amazing bike rides with toddler in carriage drawn along by bike. We found beaches with bouncy castle parks, trampolines and slides that land in a giant paddle pool. Cafes that are snack friendly for children. Beaches with very gentle sandy slope into water. Lakes with kayaking and Go Ape type of activity got older children. Loads of playgrounds and crazy golf. We like the putting green with older children. We also loved going through a maze of maize using clues to get to middle. In middle BBQ pit where you take your own food to cook, ice creams, and bouncy castles and gun activities eg giant chess, giant connect 4, hoopla, a rugby run whilst wearing velcro belt and elastic rope pulling you back, trying to run and score tries.
