Free places to go in Kent?

Anyone know of any free places to go in Kent? We are really hard up at the moment but I need to spend more time with dd (2.7 yrs) on her own before I go back to work. I don't really want to keep taking her to the park.

It's a big county. Which end?

Lots of gorgeous beaches in Kent:

Camber Sands

Winchelsea Beach (just over the border in East Sussex)

Dungeness

Whitstable

I'm in Gravesend.

Never thought of the beach, might try that.

There's a great cycle map of Kent that I bought in Waterstone's in Tunbridge Wells that shows absolutely all the places of interest that you might go to on a cycle tour and lots of them are free - the best guidebook to Kent I know.

What the hell is bedgebury pinetum?
Have a look in your library, they usually have half term clubs and story time activities every day.

Bedgebury Pinetum is a large wooded area with the biggest collection of pine trees in the United Kingdom. I think it's affiliated to Kew Gardens. It is near Goudhurst. You can walk and cycle there.

Too long since I moved from Kent, but agree that the coast is always worth a visit any time of year if the weather is half decent.

For more ideas try IdeasForTheKids. Go to the search page, type in your postcode, put in a radius of say 30 miles and select "Free" from the Family cost drop-down box. I just tried myself, used DA12 in the postcode and found over 30 ideas.
